To be perfectly honest I can't remember. I tried to get a film in x264 working once, but it was like a couple months ago, so I could give it another try now. Could you link it please? The film will download in a couple minutes.

the most original quake3 movie ever was that russian one set to the requiem for a dream theme.

well.. tbh, the focus of this video isn't really on the frags but on showing off cool stuff that is possible in q3 with the help of some coding. personally i thought it was one of the best q3 vids i've ever seen but i guess some people will miss the content. maybe my description of the video wasn't apt. sorry about that.

however, we at shaolin productions do have a lot more coming soon so you can expect quite a bit in the content area as well.

a small list of what should hopefully come out by the end of this year :

Round 3, the sequel to the RA3 classic Round 2 will be made by me.

Mrks, one of our oldest members known for videos like the Cetus movies, Freeform and Reaching Aural Nirvana is working on a freestyle trick video named Cattuthaj Jhana. This will feature umek and buddha, 2 very skilled trickjumpers.

All these trick jumping movies are nice but more than half the time I find myself enjoying the music more than the content.

Yes I know how impressive it is to acheive some of the work thats done in a defrag movie but still, all it is is rehearsal and practice (practice practice!). Anyone with the right motivation can do it, if they have the time.

For me, the most amazing footage is that of something totally spontaneous and 'of the moment' so to speak. Be it a 180 degree flick shot in the dark which just so happens to even the score @ 14:99 :).

All these scripted movies and bots are is cardboard. And please, accept what I'm saying as personal opinion and critique. But unlike the real movies where everything is scripted use your talents to capture something that just happened, and wasn't planned on :P

Teamtricking, CPMA, RA3... That´s all so generic and even though I´m aware that this must sound pathetic I find that all the last movies I´ve seen from your posse lack something like "spirit" or "soul". They were well made, but pretty much generic as it can get and bored me overly. Somehow I think that it´s been rip offs from "tricking it2" pretty much.

I like fragmovies which tell a story of a clan or a player, but all those "collect frags by random players make fragmovie looks good" movies are just like anything else. Its like watching football with mixteams and your favorite club isnt in. Cant really describe it better, but I hope you get an idea of what I mean and dont take this for offensive whine or something but just an idea =}

well that was because the idea behind our last big frag vid projects i.e Get Quaked 3 and Mercurial was just that. GQ3 was the continuation of a series of frags sent in by people and Mercurial was a movie dedicated to the promode community. The movie i'm working on right now is about one guy for the most part with a few of his friends/clanmates pitching in with some nice frags as well. it is RA3 and i know it can turn a lot of people off but i'll try not to make it boring :)

dunno why the comparison with tricking iT2 is made though. i can't find too many similarities apart from the music.

to bad most of these vids are delayed for years!

I'll be honest, I loved Deception but this didn't really do it for me, sure the air rockets were pretty cool, but weren't spectacular enough, I did however love the dual machine gun bit, that bit was like a movie, but the rest trying to make them look like real frags (I'm not saying you're lying, I understand you're open about them being 'fake', but they were supposed to look like q3 frags, not a movie) didn't seem to have a point to me, I love the stuff you did with the q3 engine though, I'm just wondering how much of it was q3 and how much was a video editing program...

The rail going through alot of people at once bit was sweet as fuck :), I've been wanting a rail that was almost hitscan but wasn't really for ages, I think it'd be sweet in movies :).

Still, keep up the good work, I'd still like to see more from Tchouky :).

it was well done, nice editing and i'm sure programming the bots to do what they did is no easy task. but it's soooo boring. bots running around in circles and a line of bots jumping of a ledge. zzz.

the range of opinions is amazing on this vid.

I liked the movie and was wondering how easy/hard it is to create single or multiplayer scenario's with bots. I mean, starting of with a simple single player level as in quake 1 where you start by slaying 'Ranger' bots.

The reason I'm asking is that you can of course create lot's of cool stuff with this (I'm pretty sure Quake 3 allows it and I know I should Google first, nevertheless it's not that easy to find information about this).

Maybe anyone here has tried the Sin Episode 1: Emergence game. There is this Arena Mode with one of the later patches which is pretty awesome. It comes down to staying alive as long as possible in a relatively small arena where opponents spawn around you. There are two options to decide your difficulty level; the amount of bots per XX time and the skill of these bots.

I find it pretty enjoyable (but sometimes also frustrating). The Sin episode 1 game is not that good but the Arena Mode concept is fun.


Another thing I could really enjoy is some sort of team up Serious Sam single player model where you try to finish the level as much as possible :>.
