I have the same problem with COD2 =(

Please help, i am having a lanparty in 4 hours =)

get the 77.77_winxp2k_english_whql.exe nvidia drivers and cod2 will work i had the same prob.

as for q4 try that too.

Nvidia has a bug in their 8x.xx drivers that cause issues with some people's Quake 4. We have been working with nVidia for the past month to resolve these issues.

Ow that sucks. I'd suggest disabling the soundblaster to troubleshoot it but I have no clue what the problem might be.

you could try to copy the files from the DVD to your hard disc.. double click setup and keep your fingers crossed...

if that doesnt work... try to install the drivers that came with your motherboard and vidcard.. gl

I've ran into this problem before generally it deals with the type of copy protection used by Activision...some CD\DVD Roms don't like it...so if you have a secondary drive try installing from it...also I've heard that having DeamonTools installed or the like will botch up the install as well...tho I think that mainly deals with if the installation is ran from a virtual drive..how ever I could be wrong on all parts.

How ever as |nFin1teFX| stated you should be able to just directly copy over the files and be fine.

If you do you should probably merge a reg file like below:

Also note in the CDKey entry you may wish to add in your CD key minus any dash's...and you may want to set Version to 1.0 as well and maybe make a few other edits depending on what you do. Not really required but helpful when it comes time to patch the game.

Check that you don't have starforce installed on your pc.
