Why would anyone even use rail with 60dmg?

I sometimes dont see a reason to use it with 90dmg as it takes 4 clean shots to kill a tank and when he is rushing on you.

i want to add that quake live updates need not a lot of staff, just a couple programmers, and people who play quake live most likely wont switch to champs cause of their taste or lags cause they have potato pcs, so i think it's worth it to keep it alive, no joke. i play it from time to time and would have hoped for it to be updated rather than play champs which i cant since i run linux.

Well, you can, you just don't want to ;) I collect daily rewards on Linux, no problem starting it (through qclauncher, or if you have Steam version, then it's just "click play"), the problem is constant shader compilation, or whatever it's doing every few frames that makes it judder :) (AKA the same frame time consistency problems as on Windows, just more pronounced - it's just a shit engine on any platform :)).

pretty much, i only play q3a atm, its sad though that they abandon better games to design kid friendly trash for the easy cash cow. i mean come on, where is intelligence, even cs 1.6 gets updates from time to time, even if its engine fixes, which all we need at this point.

So QL is still the best 1v1 game objectively speaking.

Quake 3 should be updated forever just like they keep taking care of old pieces of art. Are you saying that in 20 years or something when old software is no longer working in the newest version of Windows they will abandon the game? Fuck that shit. Whoever is in charge of the Quake IP should keep Q3/QL update forever and be thrown in jail as a crime against humanity.

Q3A is open source, so it will be updated until the last Quaker with a compiler dies. ioquake3 has an OpenGL 2.0 renderer (I think QL is still OpenGL 1.1 or so, crappy immediate mode), fully 64-bit etc. If one day new GPUs/drivers stop supporting OpenGL, there's vkQuake3 ready and waiting.

QL is already bitrotten and people need to figure out work-arounds to even run it on modern systems, so it will stop working one day when sponge loses interest/gets a new job.

And this really is a crime, they should totally open QL's code to the community, they can keep being the custodian if they want, releasing an official update on Steam every now and then.

(QL is the best Quake because of how integrated it is - no more 1000 different clients and mods with separate servers and communities. Also, PQL has better physics than PM1, come at me! :))

Yeah, problem is, Q3 is basically impossible for a noob to easily use. He has to download OSP, CPMA, a bunch of maps. Has to download point release 1.32. Has to get custom binaries that will work in modern computer. Heh as to get some ancient AllSeeingEye alternative like qtracker that is slow as fuck in updating the master server. Jesus h christ, fucking hell. It just too much work. And all of this to not even have anti cheat so anyone can run aimbots. It's useless.

We need QL to be updated. it already is integrated with Steam so I assume there's some anti cheat going on. We need it open source. Not doing this is terrorism.
