There's no real answer to that question, sometimes shit happens unless you do obvious things to invoke it. In my expereince unless its old its usually due to the user doing something to it.

The drive is the most important thing, so buy the drive seperately, then buy a cheapy enclosure as they often compromise on the drive when its all in one.

The drive you are looking for is a Samsung Spinpoint F3 (1TB).

.

Seems a v.good buy. Might get one myself.
If you go for internal get the one I said though.

depends on the porn really

be proud

I've had a portable external hard-drive, bout the size of a wallet for years now and it's never died. Picked it up from WHSmith for next to nothing. You can pick up ext-HDs pretty easy nowadays and in the rare event they break they're not hard to replace. Also got a ext-HD a bit like the one you linked from Amazon and it never died.

But what the hell do you need a whole hard drive for porn for?! That's some serious fappage

.

You gotta be a fucking retard to HIDE porn. Don't you have your own computer? My porn can be found quite easily but then nobody goes to my computer without permission so..

.

Full Name: Mike McKay-Dirden

What if someone googles your name and finds this post? Then they know where all your porn is.

.

and you think liams post will change when you change your name?

placeholder for <newname> is Mike McKay-Dirden

esr is the 5th result in Germany.

in fact: http://tinyurl.com/36n5s9w

.

any text on esr shows up in google after a day or so. so if you remove your full name from your profile it will just show the name in liam's post.

google: ""porn is hidden in my UT2004 folder & games will stay on the pc " if you want ;)

Wat? Surely you don't share the root of all hard drives over lan? that'd be STOOPID :(

If it's a Windows OS, the drive root is usually shared by default as an administrative share available using \\ip or hostname\C$\ .

negative

Administrative shares are the term Microsoft defined for the collection of by-default automatically shared filesystem resources including the following:

* any drive letter + $ (only the local disk volumes, not any removable devices such as CD/DVD drives, USB flash drives)
* admin$ (which shares access to %SYSTEMROOT%, which is usually C:\WINDOWS or C:\WINNT)

Administrative share.

By default, Windows Vista and newer versions of Windows prevent local accounts from accessing administrative shares through the network.

Strange, because on my Windows 7 machine I have an administrative share of the C drive that is accessible to other machines on the network even though I never added the mentioned registry key (I just checked, it doesn't exist).

Either way, I employed the term "usually" to denote that it may not always be the case, and the fact remains that on the most widely used Windows version it is correct.

Why would you even need porn on your HD in this day and age? Do you often get cut off from the internet?

.

You must have very sick or exquisite tastes.

Or just wants instant access with no slow streams and 100% accessibility. Seeds come and go and rapidshit isn't forever either.
