Most of us have been playing CPM for 3 years now we want something new and also theres not enough clans in cpm that can challenge us, could be a good thing maybe low tier clans will have a chance to come through

why not just keep the nobles name together, but join other cpma clans to even everything, or whatever?

I dont think the Nobles team wants to retire from the cpma scene we just dont see how we can continue to field a strong team when there are no clans to practise against and no competitions to to play in.

Most of the tournies that are running predominently 1v1 and there is no sign of a decent TDM tournement on the horizon and there areno leagues that clans are prepared to play in and put in the effort to both practise and participate, so the cpma community is in viscous circle mode no competitions means no need for clans no clans means no need for competitions.

To date all of the attempted changes to cpma and indeed attitude changes from the community have counted for naught and the mod languishes in the realms of the unplayed.

The people and clans who play cpma should have a serious think about advertising the mod properly maybe a pm2 tdm tournement to try and attract a bit of cross community intrest , cpma is the movement not the weapons so i dont see a problem.

As to last nights games WP team Y and GJ to the lads of clan nobles , Cpm4 was fun to play as a last outing i hope people see it for what it was :)

cpma is far from dead, im not closing my eyes from the tdm-scene but its just stupid to run around and scream "ITS DYING ITS DYING!!!!!" as it happens right now from _certain_ people :P there are ways to talk something to death as some guys with girlfriends know so plz stop it - thx

no, not ignore, there is a difference between talking something to death and repeating "its dying its dying" over and over everywhere and solving/working at the actual problem. solving it depends largely on the one-man show arQon who disappeared.. if it keeps going like that, yes cpma will die but you arent changing anything by putting "its dying" in a channel topic.

all ppl are crying all the time that promode dies, but instead of having some new ideas in order to prevent that, everybody is just crying. would all the players play instead of cry there would be much more games

Few things that have been bound about are

use arQmode
disable drop weapons again and maybe just have drop ammo
restriction factor added to movement

something like whats listed in the arqmode docs

Increased Ground Friction
Motivation: Improve player agility when on the ground.
Something that was supposed to be in *pre-CPMA* CPM even, but in reality
was never changed. Friction is 25% higher, allowing for faster stops and
increased dodging ability. It has the interesting side-effect of reducing
"launch speed" (i.e. the speed of the initial CSJ when starting a run) by
about 30-50ups, which makes certain now-common tricks like stairs->MH on
CPM3 significantly harder.
Final Verdict: Had we done this years ago, it arguably would have been
the better call, but at this stage it just seems limiting.
Moreover it forces players to relearn the initial CSJ and thus introduces
a conflict between CPM and APM movement, and a barrier to being able to
play both. Those factors more than outweigh the slight improvement that it
makes to the ground game.

IMO it should be added, qw has limitations to its movement ie u cant jump on stairs only way over it is using rocket runnign which come with a penalty, cpm does not have one.

I agree with this, CPM TDM is too chaotic because it's TOO fast :S. disabling weapondropping could slow the game down a bittle, and also make it a little bit more tactical in an obvious way.

And even though I like the cpma movement I wouldt care if it was changed in the way described above, cpma-movement is unlimited in most way, which has imo worked out the wrong way.

I agree with much of this; in my opinion the main thing keeping cpm back from expanding is that the movement is too ridiculous; I love busting around at 700 ups around maps as much as anyone does, and consider myself fairly accomplished at the cpm movement, but I don't think it adds to the game so much as it takes away. The only way to get good at cpm movement is to sit down and just run around the maps for hours upon hours.

Only thing I'm not sure of from the above is disabling weapon drop; I'd like to know the idea behind this. IMO anything that adds to the teamwork portion of the game should remain in.

I'd also be very much in support of using pm2; stronger rockets, stronger pg, weaker lg, weaker rail = win.

But u can do 180 turns in qw just about and its even faster. Which is better. Why the hell limit the movement, faster the better imo...people just gotta learn to deal with it.

Indeed I have to agree with drex here , i my self have been bandying about various ideas for change but because of the malaise of the cpma community nothing ever comes of it , also any changes that need to be made will be faught against tooth and claw becuase ppl dont like change arQ mode covers a lot of the things we need and those thing + minor changes elsewere could equal a more popular and balanced mod .

I also disagree that the communities problems can be solved by arQon only , problems need to be solved by us firs then sent to arQ as actionable suggestions that have the agreement of the community .

People tend to forget that there is a design team and any changes we ask for have to go via them so if suggestions have community backing by shear weight of numbers then and only then do things change.

Problem with this is (and it is the overall problem with cpma) that people have to actually engage in the task ie think about it and participate in testing it for my self I would rather ask both Pm'rs and OSP Dm'rs there thoughts on changes and try to get some community crossover that satifies most parties and makes a more playable enjoyable healthy mod.

heh thats just me talking , and yes I have been one of the decriers of promode of late mostly because of the lethargy i precieve in the community.

or make a mod of Enemy Territory and relaese cpma as its own game.. it would be hard but it would work.

Great games to watch, even if I'm biased: I'd say cpm21 and osp5a stand out as classics.

Being someone who was part of the cpm design team I could go into a huge rant about the "mistakes" I think cpm has made along the way,. I'd really like to - but my column on promode.org is STILL broken.

Basically...

Movement needs to be toned down speedwise. This can be fixed by lowering air control.
Change rail to a weapon which deals high armor but low health damage.
A spawn system more similar to OSP (column in itself)
Either remove grenades or make them explode on impact, and do less damage (spam is fucking gay).
Backbacks drop one box of ammo, instead of all ammo.
LG has less cells, deals more damage
