So after i made the G3 with the 518 optics i decided to mod the WMO.

What i did was took the shell of the WMO and put A4TECH 738K insides in it.

Result - i got a mouse with a trustworthy optical sensor and 7 programmable buttons :)

Now you may have noticed the cable is going out the rear :) There are several reasons for this. 1 i had some trouble routing it through the front of the mouse. 2 - I was looking at the nova and as a test wanted to see what the cable comes out the side does.

There are also screws in front that hold the mouse together. This is due to the fact that while adjusting everything, the hooks oin the shell broke off. To fix this i will need to buy a new WMO.

The side button holes are horribly inacurate. I will propably ditch these elipse type of buttons alltogether and do some round ones instead.

Other than that - best shaped mouse with some modern tech :)

you're doing it wrong
the shape is ugly but the sensor is excellent
now you ended up with an ugly mouse with a horrible sensor

The WMO has the best shape for a mouse in my opinion, but the sensor in it isnt as good. Top speed of 1/5 m/s when clocked, and u need 500 hz for that. Plus it lacks side buttons.

At LAN i cant clock it to 500hz, so im stuck with neg accel past 1m/s.

The sensor i put in is an evolution of the 518 sensor, so..

And a 80 euro price tag and side buttons on the right side which will prolly get in the way :)

Way easier to spend 8 euro on wmo and another 10 on the A4Tech mouse :)

Erm - what do you mean what was it like? Its an optical mouse with Oscar programming. Has the same sensor like the 518 but with 3200 dpi.

Shapewise - totally awful.

And A4Tech mice are avaliable here in almost every shop.

I meant how was the mouse in every aspect :) meaning size, shape, weight etc. - like your own mini review.

I was thinking of trying to get the optical x-740k as I heard the shape was bad on the x-738. I'm used to the mx518 sensor and its correction/prediction.

Shape bad. Weight - ok, U can remove the weight inside then its light.

Prediction correction is overrated. People played with it and didnt complain until SS made a post about it. Then everyone - omg my rail is at 25%! must be correction!

When I got my first 3.0 years back I knew there was something different about Logitech sensors that kept me away from them ever since, couldn't put my finger on it.. apparently it was the correction.

hmm, and what would you describe as a high sensitivity?

I have 14,5cm - 18cm in Quake and 22,6cm in ET for a 360 degree turn.

Heh : ), we in ET would describe even my ET sensitivity as high, but I well understand that the Quake series is absolutely different from that.

Just wondering about the mouse I should choose to play with and wondered whether to choose between no or with prediction. I have the Logitech MX518, MX310, Microsoft Wheel Mouse Optical 1.1 and am planning to buy an Intellimouse Optical 1.1 ; )

I actually am proud of not being part of all the low sensitivity players x) Most of the ET players have a sensitivity of around 40cm for 360 degree turn or even much lower..

I know I use a fairly low sens at 36cm for 360 but 5cm is just retardedly high...

Well i will, but my newest WMO mod ist ready yet. Once its done, I'll have some info.

So far i made a 3.0 with 518 internals, g3 with 518 internals and WMO with A4 TECH internals. Stay tuned! :)
