Street Fighter IV Gameplay Videos! (66 comments)

( Major News: Con)

Posted by HamidoOs @ 08:03 UTC, 29 December 2007 - iMsg

1up has two gameplay videos of Street Fighter IV, showing off two matches between Ryu and Ken.

Also, you can watch Street Fighter IV 1UP Show Special which includes interview and stuff.

P.S - Is it 3D? YES, but NO :)

there are actualy a few of those street fighter series which are reasonably nice. And theres a final fury (other old fighting game) one which is actualy pretty good. Allthough I think the anime's where there before the games ;)
And anime isn't crap, allthough I personaly do not realy like the street fighter stories etc. (like fist of the northern star blergh ;p)
Theres a lot of anime which you would even like a lot if you would watch it, I guarantee it :)

gameplay looks on the right track

the meter system is quite brilliant:
super bar fills with damage given
revenge bar fills with damage taken

and you can mix units from those meters in ultra combos.. kewl

it looks like a good 2D to 3D port imo, they kept the street fighter arcade feel.

Just stopped liking these games because it's basically just a 1D line that you have to time and react along..

I hope they keep the feel of the early street fighters as it's looking fantastic.

Don't forget there is still street fighter HD to be released via the XBLA too.

i actually love that they're keeping it simple and not going into super high detail like in Soul Calibur or something. focus on gameplay. that's what SF has always been about.

Thank FUCKING GOD it's not 3D, or, 2.5D like Dead Or Alive 4 is. Seriously, who thought up of 2.5D anyways?

Glad to see SF4 will continue to stay true to its roots.

<< Comment #44 @ 22:53 UTC, 29 December 2007 >>

tzz - Reply to #41

Actually SFIV is in 2.5D (3D models, 2D gameplay) in the vein of Battle Fantasia or Smash Bros.

Dead or Alive 4 is 3D.

<< Comment #50 @ 01:16 UTC, 30 December 2007 >>

oneroomdisco - Reply to #44

My mistake, I keep hearing 2.5D in the context of DOA4.

<< Comment #47 @ 00:10 UTC, 30 December 2007 >>

Jamerio ' - Reply to #41

"who thought up of 2.5D anyways?"

Virtua Fighter and to a lesser extent Killer Instinct.

Some games on the ps2 look nicer and you'll need a ps3 to play this. And did we see something that isn't in street fighter 2 and the furies from street fighter 3rd strike ?

I seem to be the only guy here not liking the look of that?

Those graphics look horrible to me =(. I understand that its nostalgia with a cartoony looking game and all that but to me it looks like shit. The animations look sort chunky as well.
I've never been a true street fighter lover (only played it on occasion with friends), and this game probably isnt for me either =).

I wish all the best and fun to the rest of you who will be playing it though!

Aquashark - Reply to #53

as designers said: games is not even 5% done.

also during development game speed is fast.. it will be toned down on release and animations will look more smooth i suppose.

oh and afaik i don't care about the graphics.. i started playing this year so they were already old and "unappealing"
