Have you seen Apocalypse Now Redux ?

I only ever saw bits and pieces of Apocalypse Now. And I always presumed it was like Platoon. It wasn't until I sat down and watched the entire movie that I found how wrong I actually was.

I unintentionally got the Redux version. Which I found out has 50 minutes of unseen footage. Worth watching to see what happens near the end. The director has some cojones including that in the film.

But what a trippy ass movie though.

theres a fair bit of civil war in blood diamond if you havent watched it, jamerio would be a diamond smuggler in south africa where the movie didnt take place if he wasnt a killer instinct pro.
Also fog of war but it is a documentary that is more political.

V for Vendetta does suck. Everything about it is poorly done, Directing, Script, Acting, Action, SFX, Sound etc.

Saving Private Ryan is also one very known film which is great but this film took a lot of things which were happening in reality in other locations/occasions and was putting all together to the experience of just a few guys (for example where a wall is falling and on the other side of the wall there were germans then they shoot the germans was happening in reality in Holland when Operation Market Garden took place, the scene with the medic when he is wounded and die was happening to a french special forces member in France)
Enemy At The Gates is nice and actors play very well but it contains some fictional (hard to happen in reality) elements, like the scene when the women use the mirror to blind the german sniper

It is not hard to see the differencies.
Older war movies don't try to use superfancy scenes to impress like slomo stuff or deaf and slomo together to represint the shock the man is going through, don't contain so much subjectivism, blood and guts and the way actors play is more natural. Older war movies looks more detached to the individual and concentrate more on facts, and contain subtile propaganda in favour of patriotism and war, newer war movies are more preocupated to present the horror of wars and are more concentrated on the connection between soldiers.
Both genres are ok in their way they are.
