I saw this a few days ago.... these girls must have had an amazing time filming the show looking at the episode guide =) I think many people would watch this. For one, everybody likes to see pretty girls. Secondly, you can see heaps of different things to do all around the world! And yeah theres a bit of gaming involved :P I know i'll watch it, these girls are super nice and i'm really happy for their success =)

Well thats also true that you can see a pretty girl talking about anything that interests you but what I was meaning is that most people would much rather watch a pretty girl doing stuff than some average-joe if you could choose? For example if the same dialogue was given to two people, both which had equal acting skills. One is beautiful. Who will get hired?

Think how huge the CS community is and what percentage of those are adolescent boys... I think it'll be watched :P

Well my point was they aren't acting and so in reality the major factor in the program is not how good looking someone is, but what they bring in terms of expertise(Maybe not in this case :P)/personality/fad(ZOMG GIRLS PLAYING GAMES LULZ)/etc to the program. Not that you find many ugly people who are particulary out-going as such :P

No doubt that's what they say in the TV network meetings but it doesn't hold a lot of merit in practice. Nobody is watching this show for purposes of titillation or sexual stimulation and even if they were after they've spent 10 minutes knocking one out they're back to having zero interest in some girls taking up the place of what could be one of the best teams in the world for any gender :P

As an afterthought if that concept held true (the pretty girl doing something = more interesting to the mainstream one) then surely female sports would be more popular spectator-wise than male ones? That kind of highlights the problem with stuff like this, people would watch the pretty girl cos in reality they don't give a shit about gaming and so it's a gimmick to them anyway. This kind of thing only marginalizes esports even more.

Things seem to have slightly improved over the last few years since some of those HBO developed shows in the US can deliver some substance with mild consistency, all just depends on how long before the writers run out of ideas or they hire bad one.

Says a lot though that the only way I hear and see 99% of UK TV is via Harry Hill's TV Burp :P

Personally I think it looks fantastic, All the negative comments above, I wonder quite what you think sports do?

What is MTV Cribs if not taking us around Beckhams house? Before the World Cup we had Rio "I have no personality" Ferdinand hosting his world cup pranks. We have footballers going on Dancing with stars. We have Matthew Pincent presenting the news for the BBC.

If you want esports or any sports to be more than just something to do yourself, and something to be entertained by, you HAVE to create personalities and that is what a show like this does.

Think of it like this, Football is 90 minutes long, but you dont think Beckham is so popular just because of those 90 minutes? Its what he does off the pitch that makes him so wealthy, that is exactly what these girls have done, if you dont like, just watch the 90 minutes thats what I do. But somewhere, a lot of fucking people like what he does off the pitch, and the principle is the same in gaming.

If you think this show isnt to your taste then dont watch it, just like you wouldnt watch Michael Owens soccer skills, but somewhre on MTV it will be very popular.

David Beckham is an amazing athlete, but thats not why he has fans. Marketing is why he has fans, Marketing is why Chelsea's fanbase keeps growing even if they have no history. Playus is just marketing, you get the fans, you make the money. You gotta work out where your target audience is, MTV at 4PM in the afternoon right after the Cribs and right before, Made.

Its reality tv with a target audience. If I rolled back the clock 5 years and regardless of whether I had just started gaming, this would be right up my alley.

The success generated from those reality shows is fleeting to say the least and if you're one of the people made famous by them you have to pretty much do everything you can immediatly after to cash in on your success before it's gone. If gaming goes that route then it will NEVER be any kind of long term success, instead we'll get hundreds of stupid gimmick shows like this which never advance the careers of anyone but the players chosen for the show. Jumping up and down like this is a good thing for esports is ridiculous, it's this kind of everything-is-positive attitude that trades long term potential success for short term success which precludes any long term success.

Well well well isn't his thread another pinnacle of intellectual journeys from well-behaved gentlemen venturing into being accepted as thinking beings. First a lengthy discussion about protocol and client definitions, followed by the pros and cons of Southpark, then the usual choppy arbitrary chitchat of barren things uttered by people who deem their verbal ejaculate funny or entertaining, when in fact they are like dry droppings from an old donkey standing in the sun wishing it was dead.
