While some may think it would be an april fools' joke to imply that the good old Quakeworld is still being updated, the ezQuake team is still polishing this beauty year after year. Yesterday they released a beta version of their popular Quakeworld client; ezQuake 1.8 Beta. As there are some major additions to the client this time, they decided to make it an official public beta to get as much feedback as possible from players to find and fight bugs in the software. According to the official statement on the ezQuake site, at least one more beta version is to expect before a stable version is released.

The major additions to the client includes better support for QTV broadcasting, HUD editor, mouse driven menus and loads of neat features to make Quakeworld more user friendly. If it has been a hassle to setup a config before, then it should be a significant relief now as most things are possible to change via the in game options.
