Ok they're not exactly celebrities, but on March 13th, Fox television will broadcast three fights for American TV.
After much debate, here is the final lineup:
The first match will be Danny Bonaduce -vs- Barry Williams
Bonaduce on the left is known as Danny Partridge from "The Partridge Familty" TV show, and Williams as Greg Brady from "The Brady Bunch." Williams has a height, reach, and 30 pound weight advantage, but Bonaduce, at age 42, is five years younger than Mr. Brady. Some people have their favorites in this match, but i think it will be a pretty close match.
Second up is Paula Jones -vs- Tonya Harding
Fox did interviews with the two women during the weigh-in but wouldn't let other reporters talk to them. Their official weights will not be released, but reportedly, Jones has a two inch height advantage at 5-foot-3. Everything else is being kept pretty secretive, so there's not much to go on but the picture of them and their pasts. Harding of course is the ex-figure skater, and Jones is the "White House Rat" who snitched on former President Clinton, saying he made unwelcomed sexual advances toward her. This is probably the focus of this whole event, but i have no idea has the advantage in this one.
Amy Fisher was originally slated to fight against Tonya Harding, but The New York state Parole Board refused to allow Fisher's appearance, deciding it "would not be conducive to her continued parole supervision and would send an inappropriate message to victims of violent crime," spokesman Tom Grant said.
The last match of the night will be Todd Bridges -vs- Vanilla Ice
That's right folks, this one is for real. Vanilla Ice, everyone's favorite white-rapper (maybe next to that other white-rapper), will face off the man who is just not quite Gary Coleman. Well he's almost Gary Coleman; Todd Bridges (35) played Gary Coleman's brother, Willis Jackson on the "Diff'rent Strokes" TV show ("whachu talkin' 'bout Willis"). Vanilla ice (Robert Van Winkle) is 35 years old, and if you don't remember his brief past rap career--you're lucky but--you might remember his appearance in the movie: Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles II: The Secret of the Ooze. Currently, Bridges runs "The Todd Bridges Youth Foundation" in Compton, California, and Vanilla Ice hasn't been seen much since his 2000 release of his "comeback" album, Skabz, and his little battles with Eminem. Sure Vanilla Ice knows how to take a beating pretty well (he's still rapping right?), but Todd Bridges cleaned up his drug addiction, and now he's fighting with Jesus in his corner. Just like all the other matches, i'm going to be a coward and not say who i think will win. Word is that Gary Coleman will be at the fight as a cheerleader, but this is unconfirmed. Perhaps that will be the deciding factor.
A fixture will be placed on the betting page in a couple days... Who is your money going to be on? :P
