Pelle Soederman a.k.a. fazz

Fazz has been around for a long time. Better known as a TDM player rather than for his achievements in duelling (WCG gold with proZaC in the Nations vs Nations tournament, strong performances with EYE) he earned a name for himself at last year’s ESWC. There, he progressed from the first group with Socrates and Cooller and the second group with fox, ZeRo4. Finishing fourth, fazz achieved a lot more than many expected. World’s #4 had to be picked for the Swedish team, especially for his poker skills![/q]
What's up with the bet you had with the other Swedes at ESWC?

Well, since they (mostly fox) claim me to be the most lucky guy in the world they bet against me on what maps would be drawn in the final. I bet €50 on that it would be dm6, ztn and hub. And of course those map were drawn =). Although I still haven’t gotten my money. But I guess I’ll just take it of the ESWC prize money when it arrives ;).

Who was the best player on the Swedish team?

Impossible to tell when no one played more than 4 games. I can just say it wasn’t me.

What was Sweden's biggest weakness?

We didn’t have one, we had every scenario covered.

How far into the game des a good player know what's gonna happen?

I'd say not that far at all since Quake3 has so strong weapons. If you face a toxic shaft in a dark alley it doesn’t matter if you are stacked with health and armor. If you find yourself surprised the game can turn instantly. And predicting when you are going to be surprised is, at least for me, very hard.

Does playing for more than just yourself put extra pressure on you or motivate you?

The motivation was the same, everyone wanted to win, but the pressure was a little bit tougher than usual since you really don’t want to let down your teammates.

Was czm the best player at the event?

Yes.

How many world class D3 players do you think Sweden can produce?

Hard question, but 'enough' might be a fitting answer.

What can you say about Doom 3 so far?

Great game, in single player. No multiplayer experience yet since I need a new computer to play it. One thing I’ve noticed and know won’t work in 1on1 for Doom3 is the item spawn time. Impossible to time the armors on most maps since they time way to often. Like on Edge you need to rocketjump or have berserk to run between them to be able to time them both. Some gameplay tweaks and it might be a good game. Time and modmakers and perhaps even ID's owns tweaks will tell :p

Some players will come back from their retirements, some will switch from games like UT and CS. Who, other than the current Q3 players, would you love to see in D3?

Easy question. Everyone. The more the merrier, the tougher the competition the more fun to play a game.

How did the media in Sweden react to your ESWC win?

I might be outdated in this question but I don’t think anyone in the team have been contacted by any media what so ever.

You didn’t go to QCon, why?

I’m starting university in the middle of August and I don’t have any motivation to play Quake3 atm. I wanted to go to festivals and such things as well this summer, and so I have and I don’t regret not going.

What was the best event you visited?

Can’t make up my mind, WCG and ESWC were both AWESOME. I’ve only been to one CPL event and that was truly as bad as gamesphere (ooh yea, **** Oslolan ripping players off).

Who was the best poker player at the ESWC? [q]I have to say zulg really impressed me when he was outbetting Daishi with open cards. And not seeing when he had flush/straight like 3 times. So I have to say zulg.
