On that same topic why did you use Krysa in the Clanbase Open Cup against Northstars in the Final when surely you must of known he was suspended from Clanbase.
Well that was a bit different. As I said before, it is always a mess to gather all of our members on D-day. Once again, we missed a member, and we had to play with Krysa. We weren't careful enough, actually we didn't expect Clanbase Admins to check IPs on the server. The admins didn't really care about us aliasing all the way to the final, as long as our players didn't play for other clans at the same time, which was Krysa's case. I don't think the outcome of the match would have been much different without him, we were really that much stronger (we won the match 3 – 1 against Northstars) but received a deserved forfeit loss.
I know alot of people have always wanted to know who SLX/TOP is? There have been a lot of rumours and assumptions that it is link1n from aAa? Among other players.. What is your response to this?
Flattering! SLX is a French player living in my city. We started playing quake3 together in the past, but he wasn't much involved in gaming till 2005. Unfortunately, he works hard the whole week, and can only play on weekends. We used to play together back in 2003, some Jolt TDM league which we won under the nVo clan tag. About the rumour, well, what more can I say, on what I've been saying over and over again for the past year. He (link1n) isn't, and has NEVER been part of our clan. As we have been aliasing for a long time, it became challenging for many players, to make predictions/assumptions, about our real identities. SLX came from nowhere and rocked in every single official game we played, we kind of expected these assumptions to be made. I even heard some players, suspecting him to be thefou, desp, or even toxic ... Come on :)

What are your thoughts on TDM has it evolved so much now that the game is all about rushing and long gone are the days of securing certain items on the map and then going for powerups as everyone’s aim is on such an equal footing now.
My point of view, is that this oldish camping style doesn't work anymore, as the skill has evolved so much now over the last few years. Of course, you don't only have to out aim your opponents, but also maintain critical areas safe, like, the railgun on dm6. No matter which strategy the clan picks, I always noticed that it doesn't last for 20 mins, everything goes FFA so quickly. I don't really know what is, today, the best strategy to use. As we have always played ffa since the beginning, barely timing PUs. We're not the kind of players camping items for 2 mins (like many german teams), then rushing PUs. Their style is respectable, but well, we just don't work that way. In fact, we're not asking ourselves these questions. We just play and have a good laugh on teamspeak, which is for me, the only thing that matters.
Who do you think are the contenders for this season’s ClanBase Opencup besides MiEL? Maybe one of the following teams JaC, Dinhz, Northstars or DollZ.
I don't really know. We know that its going to be a real fight for all these teams, we will try to do our best. This Opencup in Clanbase is for sure, going to be the
hardest one for us, every clan listed above has the ability and the skill to beat us. If I had to choose one, I'd say ... Northstars. Their lineup is stable, they are all skilled and often practice ... we never do, that's our weakness.
Has MiEL-Gaming ever lost to Northstars? And is there some sort of rivalry going on with them?
No, we’ve never lost to Northstars, and yes, a rivalry exists. There have always been conflicts since the beginning, but I do respect them a lot. May the best team win.
Has the team been to any LAN events and how did you fare on LAN?
SLX and myself, have only attended a few LANs in Switzerland, where we played and won some 2v2 tourneys. Nothing great. Our dream would be to participate in a big LAN event, like QLAN2 in 2004, which hosted a q3 TDM tourney, that would be amazing. I'm convinced that the community would be very interested to follow some q3 TDM/CTF LAN tourneys.
I heard a rumor that you played tox/fox on dm6, what was the outcome of that match?
Yes, that's true, although I can't remember if tox played either with fox or phantom. I can only remind that we managed to win one map out of 3 ! :) Should I add, that we would be very amused to play a fun show match vs iC. Ofcourse, the outcome wouldn't make sense considering they aren't playing anymore. But still, we are up for this guys!
Thanks for the interview uni, and good luck in the Opencup.
I'd like to add a few things! First of all, thank you for the interview. Thanks to the admins for organizing these Leagues and keeping Quake3 alive, you guys deserve applauses ! Thanks to the guys who supported us for such a long time!
Last but not least, Spart1e and myself, are looking for a strong sponsorship to attend CPL Q3 World tour 1v1. You can contact us on irc @ #miel.fr.
