There's (more than) rumors circulating of a future Quake title being prepared by Bethesda.
First,
XboxEra found a slot in the QuakeCon 2021 Friday schedule labeled 'Let's talk Quake" where apparently Digital Foundry would be discussing with Machine Games about the later's contribution to a 'revitalized' version.
Then we have a new entry on
ESRB's (Entertainment Software Rating Board - the organization that rates games) list containing a new Quake game. Apparently, the game has been rated 'Mature' and is expected to appear on PC, Xbox, PS5, PS4 and Nintendo Switch.
This exciting news come just as QuakeCon 2021 is beginning so be sure to keep an eye out for any additional information being released over the weekend.

A new
TimCon duel cup for Diabotical has been announced over at
Plus Forward. It's coming up on
October 25th 11:00 UTC with a prize pool of
£200. This is an open tournament however be advised that games will be played on
Euro servers so head over to
Challonge to sign up.
1. Don't be a dick.
2. All players must join the TimConLAN Discord.
3. Games will be played on either

Warsaw servers.
4. Players must check-in on Challonge or could face being removed from the tournament.
5. DO NOT start organizing your first matches until you have been instructed to do so by an admin in the TimConLAN Discord. Brackets are subject to change until finalized by the admins.
6. Any cheating, excessive rudeness, deliberate delaying or disruption of the event could result in immediate disqualification.
-12 minute match length.

Oleg '
d1ablo' Kogut has passed away on October 5th, as reported on
Twitter by
Slasher.
Oleg was a Quake III player in 1v1 and TDM, where he played with clan
eoe. Later he moved to Quake 4 1v1.

As most of you already know, the Viewsonic vx2265wm is a widescreen monitor, meaning that if you wish to play Quake at 4:3, the image needs to be scaled down.
Usually this may be achieved either by the in-built monitor scaler (accessible through the monitor menu) or through the graphics card driver.
I can't really speak about ATI drivers, although I did come across a few horror stories, however nVidia drivers are a mess when it comes to scaling. Some work, most don't, you really don't know what's going to happen in the next update.
Well thank God for that in-built scale you'd say. No. The Viewsonic's in-built scaler DOESN'T work on 120hz. It works with any other refresh rate but not 120hz. The menu option is just greyed out, meaning that if you're not lucky with the nVidia drivers you're, well, fucked.
For your information, the last driver I've tried that had no scaling problems whatsoever was 174.x (too bad it wouldn't support my newer graphics card).

xlo.spart1e: Yeah it's my first in Athens I came to my hotel around 2 o'clock so I had a few hours the first day to look around mainly in the center, I got lost (laughs) even if I brought a map

I find the venue a bit noisy, especially for the guys like you that sit closer to that case modding room. Do you think it has affected your games?
xlo.spart1e: Yeah it's noisy but it's the same for both of the players,

Is it better than other events, compared to Bilbao?

Bilbao sometimes was really good and others really noisy noisy, this one is the same all the time. It's playable :)

You weren't invited to the other bigger tournaments this year. Did this hurt your motivation for practicing?

Paris I had tickets for Bruce Springsteen (major laughs), he's very good live and I had to see him. And about the final I could have gotten a spot as

Gamegune I practiced with now before this event I played a bit with
strenx who has a very good shaft and i thought it would be good practice for LAN but I don't know I think I've always been good on that map from the first time I played it.

I consider this group to be marginally easier than the other. What do you think?

srs.av3k placed first at
Gamegune though, he's always strong. I don't know how much he practiced but he was bootcamping with
SK.Rapha so he will be strong in this event if you ask me.

You are considered a member of the newer generation of quake players, a generation that is more often associated with amazing aim and less with superior tactics. What's your opinion on this?
xlo.spart1e: I used to play teamplay games like CTF or TDM so I've always been a good team player and form there I think I have
pretty good strategy. Everyone on the top level now has good aim so I don't think it really matters.
MaJunior:
After the issue with the TFTs at San Jose, ESWC changed to CRTs this time. Did this affect the players? Do you think they changed the way the players approach their game?
xlo.spart1e: Those that use TFT at home always play better at tournaments with TFTs. I mean players like
k1llsen, he placed 2nd. If you ask me with CRT he would never place that good so it's harder for him here. For Quake, I think it's a welcomed change, first time I played on my TFT it was weird I played bad and missed a final.

Even at this stage I find this tournament hard to predict. Would you risk naming the top3?
xlo.spart1e: I don't know about the other group, who's winning there but I would think
