This is a retrospective of frags from 2011 to 2014.
I hung up my railgun for good a long time ago, however I wanted to make something special to commemorate all those awesome people and games. This is dedicated to all those people who put in hours enjoying AusQL in those years.
Thank you everyone for the memories!

Quake live profile data archive (8 comments)
Posted by amalik @ 06:02 CDT, 12 June 2020 - iMsg
I was wondering if there exists anywhere an archive of the old Quake Live profile data. It would be cool for old time's sake to be able to check these out.
I'm kicking myself for not being smart enough to create a web scraper to save profile data back when it was around.
If anyone has a lead on this drop me a line. I'd potentially be willing to host it and build a site to parse/view the archived data, if it exists.

Klesk bot chat script / log parser (24 comments)
Posted by amalik @ 12:32 CDT, 18 August 2015 - iMsg
Hi guys, I figured I may as well post this, since it was a good day's work that would go to waste otherwise.
Ages ago, CaptainTaichou and I made a Perl/bash script that allows you to emulate the hilarious and ever-witty bot-chatter of the Quake3 bot Klesk ingame in Quakelive.

http://www.rigelatin.net/q3a/quotes/klesk.php

Reception was, as you can imagine, quite mixed. The older veteran players loved it and through it was absolutely hilarious, the younger noobs hated it and tried in vain to block and kick my kIesk account from games. Silly people.
Anyway, since we all stopped playing Quake ages ago, I figured I'd put it up on github so other people can enjoy it, or potentially adapt it to their own needs, since at it's core it's a rather capable log parsing tool.
Here it is for you to enjoy.

https://github.com/ajxs/QL-log-parser

If anyone wants to take over my old Kiesk account, let me know and I'll give you that too. It's hilarious, trust me.

Pic comparing Quake / SC / moba champs (8 comments)

Everyone knows the pic right? Unfortunately I lost my old hard-drive and this picture along with it. My life is ever so slightly emptier without it and I was hoping someone who still has it could post it here for me. I will be eternally thankful.
I sincerely apologize for the garbage thread, but really... it can't be much worse than some of the others I guess.

The long awaited and long overdue sequel to fragged by iQ.

Showcasing some of our best frags from 2011-2012. Australia iQ Clan. 2011 - 2013 - Forever. Featuring the talents of: Acrimonious, Australia Amalik, Australia bobMarely, Australia captainTaichou, Australia Diggleby, Australia Hatski.

Please download and watch the full hi res 1080p60fps version since youtube's compression is disgusting... 30fps really isn't enough to watch keels getting blasted by air rockets.

Thanks for watching.

Format/Codec for fragvideo content (8 comments)
Posted by amalik @ 03:49 CST, 22 January 2013 - iMsg
I'm wondering if this is really the right place to put it, but since it's relevant to QL, suppose this is good enough.
I'm back in the business of making another fragvideo, this time looking to do it properly.
I've been having some trouble settling on a format/codec for storing the source content ( the frags themselves ), so they can all be edited into the final product.
I'm familiar with video encoding etc, but the problem is thus:
* I want to be able to encode the material in a framerate higher than the master framerate to allow for slowmo, so that means either 50fps+ or preferably 60+, this is simple enough in and of itself. I could use lagarithm or huffyuv to store them in lossless avi, HD space isn't much of a problem, but my experiments doing this have pretty much been unworkable in Premiere, realtime rendering is absolutely shocking... ( and I have a decent CPU )
If I encode in MPEG or 264 realtime rendering is fine, but the FPS limits at 720p/1080p are a bit of a problem... of course, there are a heap of workarounds to all of these problems...
Basically, I just wanted to hear how other people get around these issues. What do other people encode the frags in? What format/codecs/bitrates etc.
Could be a useful thread for anyone seeking to learn too.
Anyway, cheers.
