EG & MSI Announce Master's Cup Series (57 comments)
Posted by dunnisdone @ 17:43 CDT, 27 May 2010 - iMsg
Aching to see some more QuakeLive action? You won't have to wait long, as Evil Geniuses and their sponsor, MSI Notebooks, have just announced a new tournament series that will feature QuakeLive from the start.

In fact, tournament registration has already opened and the first round begins on Tuesday night! The format will be a single elimination, best-of-three bracket (and will switch to best-of-five in the final 8), with open registration featured on the tournament website at msi.myeg.net.

While this registration will be free, the prizes will still be quite hefty with $2,000 for first place, $1,000 for second, and $500 for third. Spicing things up a little more, the tournament winner will also be pit against EG's very own Tim "DaHanG" Fogerty in a best-of-five duel for the chance to win a top of the line MSI Gaming Series Notebook.

EG.DaHanG: "I would like to have a turn" (80 comments)
Posted by dunnisdone @ 09:35 CDT, 15 October 2009 - iMsg
Kristina "Korini" Chin of myEG.net just sat down with United States of America Chance "Chance" Lacina and United States of America Tim "DaHanG" Fogarty of EG Evil Geniuses to talk before ESL Dubai. The interviews cover everything from the groups to their hopes for the Quake community, but you can check out a small sample below:

EG|Korini: How do you feel about the bracket stage's best of five format and the fact that players will not be able to drop maps because of it?
EG|Chance: I think it's awesome. The more maps we play the more likely it is for the better player to win. Who wouldn't want that? The only drawback could be that it takes longer to play matches, but personally this doesn't bother me and it's well worth the trade.

EG|Korini: What are your thoughts about the overall progression of QL as a competitive game? Does the current level of competition have any impact on the growth of the community?
EG|DaHanG: It's been cool to observe the styles evolve in Quake Live, especially on the new maps where it's so evident. There are certainly talented players willing to play, but I think some old school players coming back will help spur growth and interest. Cooller, for instance, has decided to come back and there are tons of comments on esreality.com supporting him. Hopefully more old players return and the scene is further revitalized!

Tom "griffin" Wall Joins Team EG (83 comments)
Posted by dunnisdone @ 05:05 CDT, 10 June 2008 - iMsg
About a week after Team EG announced the acquisition of United States of America Paul "czm" Nelson, the organization has now picked up Canada Tom "griffin" Wall to join him as their Canadian Quake 3 representative. Included in the announcement, Wall plans to attend QuakeCon this July and then the Canadian ESWC Qualifier at VanLan in August, where he is expected to earn a spot in the ESWC Grand Finals.

Former pro gamer and current EG manager Canada Andy "gellehsak" Ryder said this, "I have known Tom for quite awhile now and we have always had our sights on him as he is a player that has that unique talent to pick things up in a hurry. He has demonstrated that he wants to be the next player to represent Canada, and we feel that he definitely has what it takes to find his place among the Quake elite not only in Canada, but on an International level as well."

Wall himself explained, "I'm excited to be a part of EG, one of the top gaming organizations out there today. I know that they will give me the support that I need to perform my best. I'm looking forward to the upcoming events and hope to attend as many as possible."

EG.Ecstacy Interviewed On SK-Gaming.com (508 comments)
Posted by dunnisdone @ 02:03 CST, 6 February 2008 - iMsg
United States of AmericaCanada Team EG's Annie 'Ecstacy' Leung has made another appearance in eSports media, this time with SK-Gaming. In the feature, SK|Malystryx sat down with her to ask a grueling series of questions, with topics ranging from her involvement in gaming to her personal life.
SK Gaming So as we’ve touched on before you joined team EG, you’re the only female in the line-up do you think you are treated differently or are you just “One of the guys”?

United States of America Ecstasy: I am definitely “one of the guys.” My teammates are respectful and they see me as a player, not as the girl on the team. We all get along very well and have become really close friends. Stryfe was one of the few people who saw the potential in me and have helped me improve tremendously since.
Annie revealed everything from how she came up with her alias to the fact that she was a cheerleader in high school, so be sure to check it out.
