After hearing a rumor that WCG only planned to announce 2 more Xbox titles and 1 more PC title, I followed up to figure out the source of the information. Turns out the source is fairly credible as it has been listed on the US WCG site. Specifically, the amount being 8 games is mentioned in the FAQ here and the game breakdown is pictured here.

Of course, this is still not 100% official, but would appear to be the final game count and system breakdown for this years WCG. The development should not be unexpected due to the whole global economic downturn, and I am happy to see that any games are being added myself.

Dawn Of War 2 Beta Is Out! (3 comments)

For those who owned SoulStorm (currently $7.50 on Steam) or pre-ordered DOW2 on Steam, the beta is now available. For information on how to start playing, please read these instructions.

For everyone else, the beta will be available on January 27th with a countdown located here.

The game is a similar to a mixture of Company of Heroes and DOTA. With no base building and a focus on squad based combat, this is no Starcraft 2 - but it isn't meant to be that. Taken from a non-competitive viewpoint, the game is quite fun, and one cannot beat the price of free to try it! With great graphics and a fresh approach to the RTS genre, I do think it is worth a look.

GGL Digital Games 2008 Games have been announced here.

The list of games:
* NEW: Starcraft was added
* Counter-Strike 1.6 5v5
* Soulcalibur 4 1v1
* Command & Conquer 3: Kane's Wrath 1v1
* Burnout Paradise 1v1
* NBA Live 08 1v1
* NHL 08 1v1
* Warcraft III: The Frozen Throne 1v1
* Defense of the Ancients 5v5

Of note, the poll GGL used in determining these games was largely ignored.

In addition, the competition will have no cash prize and winners of various regions will have to pay their own airfare to the finals in

China. The stated idea is that gamers will compete simply for medals and get individual sponserships to attend similar to competitors in regular Olympic events which also award no cash prizes. This last bit of information is from a casual conversation with a GGL admin, and hence I should add this prizing information is only correct as of this moment and may end up not being 100% final.
