I have no clue if ppl outside Sweden ever heard about Valborg but here's a short(?) explaination. Its far from complete and only covers my personal experiences. Results may vary! Anyway, here is comes(please dont mind all grammar/spelling fault :p):
It occures once per year, 30 April - this friday. I think it got something to do with our King's birthday but noone really cares about that...
The main thing about Valborg is consuming loads of alcohol with others and act like a "14is". Whats a 14is you ask? A 14is is a person whom act like he/she/it is 14 year old(a 14 year old who act 14is is called fjortis). It got no age limitations but its kindof unusuall to see grandpa's and grandma's just get drunk and act foolish and unresponcible. But for ppl around my age, its a golden opportunity to just throw away all grown up behavior and do all crazy thing you normally are to old to do w/o feeling to much shame about it.
A typical Valborg would be held at a big local outdoor place like a beach, a soccerfield or something like that. Everybody knows that there is going to be activity there so w/o any invitations or anything masses will gather in larger and larger masses. This is the event you typically get drunk the first time(it was for me when I was 13 :p).
Since swedes are kindof shy in general we often gathers in small groups thoughout the locations, typically 5-10 ppl in each. Ppl tends to get less and less shy and the groups disband more and more thru out the evening/night. Theres a group of ppl who wont though. Id like to call groups of "spectators". They aren't cool but would like to be so they normally stands in the outer regions of locations and you watch. They do fill a function though, but Ill come to that later. Some older ppl will proberly gather around a parking lot not to far away and hope for some easy action with some fjortis chick. They got the age, muscle, car and music = all the things a poor fjortis ever dreamed of. All other dudes typically thinks that they are lame but never dares to say cuz the risk of getting bashed.
Soon youll see the first cases of 14is behavior. Typically ppl just run around and talk but theres allways some/someone who gets to drunk to early of the n00bs. Its hard to drink within you limitations when you havent been drunk before -_-. So its expected to see ppl laying on the ground ruining thier clothes, puke in very unappropiate places or my favorite: taking a swim with clothes on. This is what the oldskool Valborg ppl has come to see :) A fjortis who's that drunk a normally taken care of by its fellow not-so-drunk friends that devotes themselves to support the fjortis. So its not uncommon that you see one person come running by you w/o any pants and then 10 seconds later 5-6other persons comes yelling at the fjortis. Here the "spectators" often come and save the situation by lending a mobilphone so that someone can call the fjortis parents. These kind of things can go on for hours.
At night theres kindof a mix of alot of things. You got some ppl still just standing and taking, having a good time. You got some who's passed out. You got the cardudes probberly with some chicks. But theres something new to the scene: MOM's. Yeapp, thanks to some kind non-drunk they are here on a mission to take care of thier baby. Theres three kinds of scenarios here.
1. The past out fjortis who's been carried to the car.
2. The very drunk but settled fjortis who has puked most of the evening and are relativly sober.
3. The rampart.
1 and 2 are easily taken to the parent's car. The 3rd however are not. Its a wild wild beast who thinks its king and can do whatever it wants. It has been upset about something under the evening(rejected, trashtalked etc) and is so furious about it that sure to cause hell for everyone and everything that in its way. When the Mom(could be Dad to but typically he's to lazy and stayes home I guess) tries to talk the brat wont listen and instead of gently going to the car it screams at, kicks and bites everyone that comes in its way. So w/o any help from others its an allmost impossible situation for the Mom to handle. Depending on how many ppl helping to "take care"(beat and hold down on the ground basicly) this can be a veeery long dramascene.
As you see, theres a whole lot of fun! :D Even if the biggest part included a fjortis as the main person there is a large amount of 14is stuff and older dude can do. All the rules about grown up behavior are tossed away. I think(hope?) that most of you got some crazy history about what yo did when you were a young teenage. You might think that its a thing of the past BUT the great thing with Valborg is that it doesn't have to be. Just go out and be a crazy brat again! WOOOHOOOOO!
For all of you who have yet to experienced these kind of things ive prepaired a list of things that can help you to get ready for what Valborg might offer you in the best kind of way! Nice huh?! :D
Preperation help for n00bs:

* Beer. 6pack of illegally bought beer from you local "alternative" store("Asian food" or something like that), basicly the same place where you bought your first pack of ciggarettes.
* Ciggarettes. First of all its concidered to be a big coolfactor by other n00bs. If your a cool guy in school this is a must. BUT you acctually don't have to smoke to make use of em though. Just let ppl know that you got em and if some older dude wants a cigg, give him one and you'll be under his protection all night!( he will return more times though so you better not run out to early...)
* Condomes. Ok, its not very likely that you are going to use em but just the fact that you got em puts you in the "market". The word about that you are "ready" WILL spread!
* A Ride. Very few fjortisar will have the opportunity to arrive at the partyplace in a car. If you manage to do that(got a older brother or pay some random dude) to do this you are VERY COOL. All the chicks will gather around the car(BMW with lots of extras prefeered) cuz its the only place where there's music playing AND there is older dudes there.
Now, I hope lots of ppl got enlightened about Valborg and that even more got inspiration to make new crazy memories to tell for the afterworld! Party on!
