really? Afaik in Q3 it looked differently when I changed the r_mapoverbright thingy from 1.0 to, let's say, 1.5. Why's that?

EDIT: Oh, maybe because 1.5 was automatically set up to 2.0 ???

there's no way it can look different, only the truncated integer value is ever used. it must be your eyeballs playing tricks on you.

add: oh and btw, the value of mapoverbrightbits is never applied by itself, only the difference between the two:

mapoverbright - overbright

is what matters for lighting the map.

overbright does effect all images by itself though.

r_intensity does work as it did in q3, it just doesnt work with r_enablePostProcessing.

the info is from the q3 source. with a little bit of knowledge/experience i can pretty accurately tell which things still apply in quakelive.

Don't use that high of a picmip. At that rate (when all walls are one tone of colour) you have ZERO depth perception from different walls. Just dump it up a bit :)

so we have to play with quite dark display settings to get a proper "bright" model but this way we take a too dark map into account.

I see pple changed their crosshair color to white for a reason too.

The reason is: ql brightskins sucks!

I think they put to much yellow on them. Its more difficult to aim with a yellow crosshair. I dont know if the yellow in the skin/texture is the the reason why they dont "glow" like they did in q3.

Those called "brightskins" aren't bright at all. They're light green. For me and almost everybody else QL would be so much better with proper Q3/CPMA b_r_i_g_h_t_skins.

Some CPMA configs can make LG beam and plasma look transparent. Can the same thing be done for QL? Because right now when I'm firing the LG I'm effectively looking at a crosshair that's big, bright and dynamic (the size of the beam at the impact end will be different as the distance from which it's fired changes).

What do you people do when you have a 19:10 monitor? With neither ATI nor NVIDIA do I manage to get it to just show me the game at 4:3 ratio, with none of my desktop showing on the sides. I'm also on Windows 7. I don't even care if I have to scale up 800x600 or have native pixel resolution, I just want that ratio at fullscreen and without the desktop showing up!
