well, what can i say that hasn't been said before. This movie was pretty horrible really. The player skill was great, as is always the way with raziel's movies. But this one is the least watchable of all his movies i've downloaded - the music is pitiful, badly synched, badly mixed, and serves no purpose in the movie other than to annoy the fuck out of anyone that doesn't like the happy hardcore / high nrg genres. Netrex's comment about the music being horribly suited to the action / game portrayed is pretty much spot on imho.
It is possible to do it properly, and well. for example look at sozou's hardclan movie

shame really, as the music / editing really spoilt it the great clips and skill.

An ok movie. Except for the music which didnt' fit at all and got really tiresome after 3 minutes.

The image quality was ok, but not if you look at the filesize for this movie. 28MiB per second @ 640×480 is way to much. Even more so with this image quality. Felt like the source material was encoded with a lossy codec before editing took place.

Editing was ok, nothing special. Ingame sound wasn't present which is a big drawback for fragmovie IMO. Specially on CS movies. And with CS:S it's so easy to add it since it is exported at the same time as the footage when you use the Source engines equivalent to the Q3 engines cl_avidemo variable, so it's really strange that it's not used.

The action was good IMO. I don't play CS, so looked like well played CS to me, but not breath taking maybe.

Edit: Just noticed it's 60FPS which explains the filesize to some extent, but I don't see the need for such high FPS for this movie. 30FPS would have been better since you would have gotten better image quality and basically the same watching experience framerate wise.

In fact, it would be *the same* watching experience framerate wise. Because we have such a limited image capture stream through our eye (*around* 30fps depending on the person), frame-blending a 60fps movie down to ~30fps would be the absolutelly same thing for watching.

This is different from a game - where a higher framerate DOES matter - because in video you can blend frames together and show *time slices* (combined frames) instead of *frozen frames*. That's why some movies some times are even shot at higher framerates (ie, the Ghost in The Shell movie had some parts created at 120fps) even though it's flattened back to ~30fps before finishing it. Several frames are combined into one.

There's no reason for using 60fps on a rendered movie. But you know, some people like higher numbers... it's a kind of an e-penis thing.

television and movies are at 27fps i believe, due to as your_mother (heh) pointed out, we don't physically process information in frames. rather as fluid , continual light. some fun insight

What our eye captures and what we register are two different things. Learn to express yourself correct then, if you don't want me to correct you. Yes, the movies run at pretty low FPS due to motion blur, as explained in the article, but that doesn't mean your eye can only snatch 25FPS. If there was no blur, the picture would look jerky, alos explained in the article. It's simply tricks to make you see fluidly and not that it is the limit of our eyes.

i'm with your mother on this one. infinitely small snapshots that we get from games are a lot different from snapshots taken with normal cameras. a frame on traditional film tends to capture light for around 1 24th of a frame. In that time you get motion blurring on fast items, and this is where you get fluidity and seemlingly high framerate from.

however, there are things that can be done with game engines to produce fake motion blur, it takes longer to capture, and produce a movie, this is why a lot of producers skip over it in favour for the 'easy' / high bandwidth option.

capturing high and resampling is essentially the same as faking motion blur - which is a good thing, however to capture at double the intended frame rate and then to resample back down again would produce a horrible ghosting effect. depending on your patience anywhere upwards of * 4 frames is good for low speed motion, and much more than that if it's high motion.

Someone needs to learn proper video encoding and compression.

Frags was not at all impressive. A few worth keeping, but all in all way to mutch crap. Editing... I dont care about editing. Demos from different updates, some buggy stuff and low fps. Music was unfitting to a fragmovie. no offence :P

CSS makes a very pretty game to movie transition, nice editing and frags.

editing were really nice and FPS <3 but the music is terrible.

I gave it a 6/10 by mistake. I thought it was utter bollocks. The music just doesn't go with it at all. Having not played CSS i couldn't tell if the kills were skilled or not. It's like wow, look at me killing lots of people, weee, look at me. I'm skilled, i'm skilled, yeea!!

This kind of movie only appeals to people who play CSS. Thats why it got such a shit response.
