Here's another movie from a US server. It's also shows a great deal of communication and teamplay on voice comms.

It's on Stormscale, where all good European guilds are (except war legends). It is actually the first guild kill of Onyxia on the server :)

I am thinking of starting playing on stormscale. What faction does the big guilds play there?

both factions, my guild Mannel plays horde, and probably the best guilds are horde. But you got for example Gangstars, swedish army and SK gaming on the alliance side.

The best guilds alliance has to offer could be:
warders, vengeance, dorfz (old midget mafia + some others from mid/pry and they also played excal. in various topguilds) and random roleplayers.

All mentioned above is high skill pvp-players from dark age of camelot.

I dunno how SK is doing but since they aim to perform good I have no doubt they will perform good.

So there are no good guilds on other servers? Riiiiiight...

If you're narrowminded and dont bother to look for other big guilds you'll never even know they exist...

when someone says stormscale I think that most non-stormscalers would say "oh that swedish dominated server" rather than "oh that uberleet server"...dont even know if its dominated by swedes, just know that it got 10-20% of the sceneactive swedes play there from polls.

if you know an uptodate guildranking system, please look up massive@stormreaver for example...they prolly got more than a full raidparty with lvl 60chars...

that was quite interesting for me, even as a complete non-wower. what did you gain from killing her (apart from being the first guild to do so)? oh and i was watching your health bar paladia, it didnt go low once you big wuss, get your hands dirty next time!

It didn't go down because our tactics worked flawlessly that time, I can assure you it did go down the previous times :) As you can see in the end, there is some fancy loot as well as a onyxia head on a pole rised at the heart of the Horde capital, Ogrimmar.

how many attempts has it taken?

Took us 6 tries, but we had hours of tactical discussions prior. We actually got her to 5% on our second attempt :)

sure they were kinda ecstatic when they killed the thing at the end, i can only presume that youve never been in a tense game (an important tdm/ctf game for example) and won in the dying seconds. even if youve never met the people you're talking to and you're staring at a computer monitor its guaranteed that every person will shout like that. when you've put that much effort into something, theres no surprise really. aha.

the only reason it was beaten this early(ze french killed him weeks ago) on eu is couse;
the full tactics was released by us guilds(any guild can do him in a few tries now)
he was nerfed pretty bad(he used to conflag)

I've never played any mmorpg before but that looked fun. How many more big monsters are there in WOW? Is it like a planet, have you traveled everywhere? What keeps you playing it. Is there a website that will answer all my queries? ;p

Well, there are quite a few mobs that requires a full raid group, 40 people. We have Onyxia of course, then Baron Geddon, Lucifron, Magmadar, Gehennas, Garr, Shazzrah, Sulfuron, Golemagg, Majordomo and Ragnaros in Molten Core. Ragnaros has actually never been killed by anyone in the entire world. There is also Lord Kazzak, Azuregos and Lord Lakmaeran as world bosses, though Lakmaeran just requires 25 people or so.

It is a world with two continents. There are also instances, which is a private copy of a small part of the world (a dungeon usually) for only your party, so you don't have compete with the rest of the world for the bosses/mobs there.

will download later, i love the idea of such a strong enemy that you need dozens of players' cooperation to beat it. WoW is kind of a spectator sport for me, i think it's beautiful sometimes and feats like that are cool but i will never play it :)

Playing it and watching it aren't much different.

The Somethingawful goon video is great, for the "Nerd excitement yaaay!!" message as they all shout and yell when she dies. And for the music they play when she dies too....ahem.

Alright I didnt understand shit as I dont play WoW or any MMORPG but I still have 1 question :

why is it "all heal Tanari" at the end ?

I saw his health going down badly and fast but why was he the one takin all the damage and why was he so important ?

I'm also not involved in WoW, but perhaps that was their strategy:

One player gets all the damage, a few others keep him alive by healing him instantly and the other players shot at the opponent without taking damage.

exactly, I haven't watched the movie yet but I assume taren was the tank (warrior class) they can absorb most damage of all classes, and they can pull aggression like no other. So he gets the shit beaten out of him while the others focus solely on healing him and doing the damage to onyxia.

Aye, Tanari was the main tank. As you can see during the first one and a half minute of the fight, no one is attacking except Tanari, he is trying to build up as much hate as possible so Onyxia would only attack him. It is also one of the reasons we sometimes stopped to do any damage to her, so he would build up more hate. If he loses aggro, we are pretty much screwed. If he dies, we are 100% sure to wipe, even if she is just at 5%. She also has a very strong fire breath that she does to those in front of her, which is why the tank is positioned to the north and every other player is to the sides of her. If she decides to attack a player on the side, she will do her fire breath and pretty much half of the players there will die instantly so it is paramount that the main tank keeps aggro on her.

When is starts flying it works very differently though, but the flying part is fairly easy as long as you are spread out enough, and the whelps that spawn on the sides are taken care of fast. As you can see we all stop attacking before she is about to fly, it is so the mages, hunters etc can regenerate to full mana so they can burst out damage when she goes airborn. Since only the range classes will be to do decent damage at that time.

Yes, we still have plenty of bosses to kill in Molten Core. Pretty much all raid bosses are great fun to play since they requires so much strategy and tactics before hand to be slayed.

when does the monster spawns again so other players can try to kill it ?

It doesnt work with spawns :).
If you enter the instance you get 'locket' in... so if you would log out and re login you would still be in the cave with her and she would have the same hp or something...(or so it say's at the www.worldofwarcraft.com site ;p) onyxia is there for everyone but when she is killed it takes 3(?) day's before she spwans for YOU again but the player's that havent killed her yet. You'll find her at anytime in her cage ;p!

You are almost correct. Onyxia's lair is an instance, which means it is a private copy of a dungeon for your party only. If everyone logs out, leaves the instance or dies, she will regenerate to full health though. If you kill her, it takes 6 days until you can attempt it again. The rest you wrote is correct :)

Nolby Pride and another guild took down Onyxia some days before and that gave a nice buff to the whole population of Ogrimmar. This one didn't though.

Aye, I believe it bugged either due to the huge gathering or people, or due to the fact that that someone turned in the warchief's blessing-quest at the same time.

didnt get impressed at all from that movie.. just got irritated on a couple of things:
* why does arpe keep using the same spell throughout the battle even though she's immune?
* i can live with the teamspeak thingy.. although most of it was just bs ;) but why both swedish and english when its a swedish guild?
* 50% of the movie shows exp running into the wall.. oooo how exiting. fuck the action, i wanna see the orc run into a wall yeah!

it's to show how much effort you have to put in, and how delicate the tactics are for killing such boss. I find the movie incredible, but that's just me.

All discussion regarding healing is in English because some of the healers are not from Sweden. Two from Denmark, one from Norway and one from Holland.

Arpe using the same spell? I assume he is just healing the whelp group because he is a priest assigned to that.

Sure, we could do a movie from birds eye perspective seeing her drop HP but it wouldn't show any of the tactics used. It isn't a graphical showcase, it is an example on how to flawlessly bring down one of the toughest mobs in the game. He has the back against the dragon because else you are feared into the lava and die. If you move while fear hits you, you usually remain stationary instead of being feared away.

those 'fear' tactics are pure exploits though :P

We'll be trying in Molten Core this week, or atleast when we can get in again.
