Depends on how big the tree is, what makes the tree fall, and what the tree falls on (or in).

Of course, then you'd have to determine what exactly makes up a tree. If a tree consists of it's roots as well as the rest of it, it's very possible and likely the simple act of falling would cause the uprooting process to create sound waves, as well as creating sound waves when the tree actually makes contact with the ground.

It truly is a question for the ages. A trick question to fuck with people's feeble minds.

There's no real answer, of course, because the question is too vague.
