I haven't been on ESR for almost 7 months what with all the high school politics going on and my not having the free time I used to have for typing up replies. So yeah, that was a pointless statement. Anyway I have to say I'm quite pleased with what's happened to the site. Haha!

Oh and people don't seem to get that just because you're a major contributor doesn't mean you'd make a good admin and that just because you don't contribute as much as other people doesn't mean you won't make a good admin. I'm not saying random users should be promoted -- just people who have been around and have a decent grasp of logic and reasoning. People who can see situations on the site and go "I can handle this without being taking anything personal or being obsessive". I can certainly say that a lot of recently demoted admins did not fit that bill, were unreasonable and power-trippy during their tenure.

The vast majority of admins here were promoted so that the posting restrictions would no longer apply to them. With admin status comes the ability to post - these admins are chosen because they are competent and responsible in writing, not to keep the site's "peace" or whatever.

As for the admins you talk about, there are people who hardly ever post threads themselves but are doing a very good job (and hardly noticeable). Someone like zet or SiT for example. The "writer" admins usually abstain from using their other powers. Those who do it for their own selfish reasons are demoted (of course there has to be someone who'd point that out, unlike one person I talked to lately *cough*).

When I first pointed it out (You know, those incidents you told me to 'get over' and quit irc) I expected someone to do this, yes. It didn't happen. What do you expect, me keeping on reporting abuse when no one does anything about it? This is rather inefficient and consequently a waste of my time. I don't like wasting my time.

Actually, they usually make their own threads for random ramblings. Besides, mirroring -- it wouldn't happen as often as one might think. On another note, I think majestic should be shot, but that's a different issue.

Those threads about users - I have nothing against putting them in the public forum. Actually, when I did do it with a thread, the person whose demotion was discussed requested that the thread be put back to the admin forum! :P
