with some on the fly sensitivity adjustment could even become competetive with a gamepad, if u r able to adjust to different sensitivities ...

Show that gamepads can be good if configured right. Most games have such a large deadzone to cope with bad/old thumbsticks springs that it kills the most important area of control. I'd still pick a mouse on any given day, but there's some truth in this.

This guy is 1700 elo in QC after playing Quake for many, many years.

Meanwhile kids who have never played Quake but come from a FPS background also aquire 1700 elo in QC instantly.

Playing ranked in QC is just the easiest way to get duels.

I'm sure he tries for the win, and when it comes, it is enjoyable, but there is also pleasure in the playing itself---win or not, high elo or not.

Maybe for him there is an increased satisfaction from showing what can be achieved with a gamepad, and if elo really is the goal, he can take satisfaction from having a high elo among gamepad players.

Well, I come from a similiar backgorund. I started games on a console, even played multiplayer fps on it, got really good at it, and then wanted to go to PC for more competition. But I had no experience with mouse/kb so I could barely even move straight. Then I did the same, I used my controller on PC for a while in these multiplayer FPS. But I realized the limits of it. Look at the dude playing in his videos. Hes playing really serious. Of course he wants to win.


Gen1us only plays with a controller because hes too scared to learn something new. Thats my hypothesis.

Edit: Oh yea, not everybody is the same of course. Thats why its only a hypothesis. However, we live in a competetive world and that competition is deeply engraved into our very cores, like it or not. Thats why I came to this conclusion

I play fighting games and platformers on keyboard. so yeah, to each his own.. you can have fun with any device, no need to judge :)

Yes of course. I play fighting games professionnaly with pad also.
But fps on pc is a bit special. I think it is more unsual. I wish it wasnt :)
