With the exception of Attenborough stuff (god bless that man) and a couple other nature documentaries, I really can't fucking stand any documentary made in the last 15+ years, it's all so fabricated and biased and laden with some barely hidden agenda these days, using all the little narrative/editing tricks in the book to make something appear controversial and/or interesting when it isn't, instead of focusing on things which are actually interesting. i.e: the natural world, but ofc that is expensive and *gasp* hard work.

That's why I've only become more and more dogmatic in looking for academic backed sources - pretending I can know if content is good or not without having education in the relevant areas is a fool's errand.

Rogan in particular likes getting these exciting rogue academics which ultimately misinforms people who don't have a good general sense of the fields. If you're not an expert, first learn about the consensus and the general field, people.

I did not liked his doc about Amy Winehouse - was very dry and totally expected.
