.A new champion will be coming in the next patch! It will be revealed at PAX East in Boston on April 7.

.Awoken. New duel map coming in April patch. This tweet and reddit post suggests it will also be open to TDM/FFA.

.Quake II Rocket Launcher and new Tri-Bolt skin will be coming BEFORE the next patch. They wanted to test a new system where they can put something into a build without it showing up in the client immediately. These new skins will be unlocked "very soon".

.Quake II Rocket Launcher will be in reliquaries to start. [It sounds like you won't be able to unlock it with shards, at least right away, but this was unclear.]

.Speed changes are being tweaked continually. They want to retain the more strategic pace introduced with the speed changes, but they definitely want to make it feel more fluid. They are experimenting with different speeds and accelerations. Experiments will also probably be taking place on the PTS.

.They are also experimenting with rocket speed changes to improve dodging ability.

.Making changes to Slash's crouch slide so that it's not necessarily faster, but it's more fluid and smoother.

.Reducing radius of Dire Orb explosion. Especially in Instagib it was too powerful, and right now it is larger than it looks visually.

.Looking at potentially giving all champions the same HP/AP decay rate.

.Clutch's crab-hopping behavior, where you could hold crouch and spam dodges, has already been fixed for next patch.

Which leads me to my main point: They are trying to sell us, the people who love to play this game, the slower speeds because a disinterested focus group of disinterested participants agreed that this game is "too fast" for normies to watch and care about. But, for instance, hockey is too fast for most people. Should they therefore slow the ice down so that more people watch and thus more money is made?

Same was also tried for table tennis and it didnt work out for them

Mostly everyone says the same

"QC is no fun with this OP clutch", ruining the entire duel experience.

But as i have previously said , the problem is to get the champions to work in all modes, because .. that just dont work .

Either tweak for specific modes, or ban champions for specific modes.

Also , seriously , the round system has everyone said from the beginning just does not work , its like having a stubborn car designer that the newly designed racecar should have 3 wheels because its different, noo ! it should not, its stupid.

Its just so sad watching pro`s stream, after the clutch OP shit, they all just look depresses and annoyed that they have to play this shit, just hoping it will be fixed.

No, dire orb in instagib really has a few times bigger explosion radius comparing to duel. it's so big that it almost can't be dodged in a close fight or in a narrow corridor.

I posted this at length on noobland (reddit): if the content made for QC keeps on consisting of only one small map every four months, then QC is going to die on arrival.

This type of patches are those that kill games in development. Those that have a lot of lines but nothing of substance. Those applauded by the masses, that miss facts like the last main-mode map was released in August, QC having six maps (other than those made for 0,1% of the population and that are so simple and small they can be made in a week), and that the new small map is nothing more than just re-using existing assets.

given that they consider the game still not released but in active developement, this rate of patches and amount of changes is awefully low. That is the kind of content you produce in a week at most, especially when you get close to a release date.
Most of that is just "we think about" .. "we are experimenting" and parts that prolly take 10 minutes work (like reducing dire orb radius effect, not even visually but just the number in the code)

Maybe they should have done a Quake Wars sequel, jumping on the battle royal hypetrain. And then a QL engine update for the old fans with a good modding tool for the community to recreate their maps themselfs.

sure if you are a one man band you can change it in prolly less then 10 minute, but if you are a structured company things don't run like that for a reason. But i presume you know that.

Why? Not talking about coming up with and thinking about the actual decision to reduce the radius (which might take longer in a team), but implementing it ought to be straightforward, no? Tell whoever's responsible for that part of the code to change it. If the codebase etc. is a mess, then it's gonna take longer, but that is not necessarily true for team work, no?

i agree the implementing part is not what takes time (ofc it can, depends on the magnitute of implementation), but its the decision making thru-out the team and even if the they agree, it still takes time because maybe meetings are once a week. And when some1 finds the problem its maybe takes a week to bring the problem to the decision makers then they need a week until the next meeting and so on... and then comes in the time plan and schedule and fucking everything. so ye in a group of 50 people it takes longer time.

besides all that i do agree some problems should be/could be solved faster, then waiting for an entire monthly update cycle.
