most important question is how the M1 is still alive playing Quake? my 3.5G that i had used for like 3+ years died pretty fast when i started playing Quake, LG was cutting out mid stream

My M1 was cutting out after cca 2 years of use, that is because the plastic was to soft, and it molded itself over the actual button inside the mouse, so i glued a very thin piece of metal under it, worked like a beauty ever since and DAT CRISP click .. omg

Cutting out mid-stream is pretty normal once you reach out a certain age...

edit: hmm wait, you wrote that this is your 2006 DA, but then it should have a red scrollwheel encoder, instead of the turquoise one it shows on your pic. :S
My shell and button-PCB is not compatible with your mouse then it seems. :(

ye, he offered the DA BE shell, which seems to be compatible with your DA.
But if your DA is really from 2006(dunno if you remember that correctly :P), then his shell wouldn't be compatible, as there are two versions of the DA 3G, which don't allow for swapping parts between them. :-?

hmm i thought first DA and later models up to 3.5G are compatible at least the top cover of the shell, that actually makes the button. Since the measurements are the same.

And i do not exactly know, if it is the 2006 or the 2007 model since i peeled the model sticker off. :) It was unreadable anyway.

the 2nd version of the DA 3G(released somewhere around the end of 2008), is compatible with the DA 3.5G / BE.

I guess you have to take it apart to be sure which version you got.

ye but the thing is all have the same upper plate where the logo is ... so basicly, i am only gona change that one part -that should be universal to all DAs as i compared the images of the models. The basic shell i am gonna keep as is.

Edit: i saw the link you gave and i see where the upper plate goes to the upper shell, the holes seems to be mostly there, where they should be, but one version didnt had the side flaps/pins or i missed it.

hmm, i will try that if the button part is interchangable between the diff. versions.

dude i swear at first i though after all this years "cutting out" came back, but then i saw that button was actually bend and like an idiot i was pressing harder so i can overcome "cutting-out" effect, ofc after that it just "cracked" softly/easly.

dat numbers! lol kudos.... but i own this DA since 2007 /2008 so lets say for 8 years. So by your formula that would be 156,672,000 clicks.

Anyways I know its material fatique, because the feeling when the m1 button broke was the same when you do multiple bends on a plastic material and how it feels when the material becomes gradually soft.

+ if you look at mouse you see it broke off exactly where button looses structural support of the plastic that goes on the actual mouse button inside the mouse.

Yeah I was going to add that where the casing hits the button will add a stress concentration. Also when you added the metal because it has a different stiffness that will add a large stress concentration (like why armour plating tanks and destroyers is a bad idea)

Strictly speaking though fatigue is failure at a stress below the yield point, i.e. you aren't permanently deforming the mouse shell with each click - it's not the same as when you bend plastic back and forth.

Quite interesting though! Maybe razer didn't think of fatigue too much ;)

Thunda you da man ... i got the plate ... everything is ok, i had to break of two little unimportans plastic pins for my model. and it workz beautifully .... it was an easy snap on.

But the clicking is poor so i am gona glue on that metal shim, for extra crisp click!
