you can safely get an EC1-A, preferably an older batch with the white logo, unless you want a 16-step scrollwheel(evo CL has 24-steps), and omron switches(if you were fine with the evo CL switches, you don't need these).

DPI-Steps are 400/800/1600/3200, but i guess you don't use accel in ql, so there shouldn't be a problem to adjust the ingame sens.

EC1-A has lower button latency than the evo CL too, so that's another bonus.

what's different about the newer batches of the ec1-a?

newer batches(the benq versions):
red instead of white logo
16 instead of 24-step scrollwheel
omron instead of huano switches for M1 / M2
~2ms higher buttonlatency

So I got the EC1-A today, old batch with the white logo, and it feels awful. It just feels glitchy, I played 2 hours of quake and 2 hours of cs with it but it feels like it's not a matter of getting used to it. Feels like there's something with the sensor.

Does the EC1-A have the same sensor as the Evo CL? Does it sound likely that I have a defect mouse?

EC1-A has a different sensor(pmw-3310 instead of A3090), but it's said to perform nicely.
Could it be the LOD-setting, which makes it feel bad?
It should state on the box which buttons to hold, while plugging the mouse in for the different LOD-settings.

try all of them, and see if it will improve the sensor behavior.

What about a Razer DeathAdder Chroma? I run mine at 750dpi without Synapse installed, works great! :)

I still think if we eclude the "must have nowdays" lightning thing, razer mouses are not bad... especially on razercs owns pad. Used 3 of them(lachesis 3G, imperator 3.5G, mamba 3.5G) and tbh they all where good. My mamba hands down broke after 1.5y, but was in warranty.. lazer on it broke so it was unfortunate, otherwise a really nice looking, confy, heavy, whole day batt life, precise and lag free wirrless mouse. My Imperator lasted 2.5-3y heavy use before the left button mallfunctioned(one click registers as two). My lachesis is my backup mouse and now using it.. it's 5y old lol.. works really good. Considering to buy a new razer soon. Any recommedations? I look at mamba chroma tournament edition and DA chroma.. ur opinion?
