Thanks dude - it's my second one because someone backed into and totalled my first one...while it was parked! wrecked the triple-clamp, bent the front rim ($3000 Marchesini!) and wrecked the $1500 aftermarket exhaust. Not even a "sorry" note, just drove off and left the bike on the ground. WTF is wrong with people?!

Why would you even want to ride without a helmet? It's not really that pleasant once you hit 120 mph, and that happens fairly quick on a bike.

Helmet is good, because you will likely survive long enough to be a donor. Ppl w/o helmt are often instantly killed and cant be donors. Apparently there are quite often situations when the vicitm lives, but the doc knows, as soon as he removes the helmet its over.

I think I'm picking up a hint of disdain for my (our) choice to ride...have you ever tried it?

Nah, would be awesome but i'm sure i would crash sooner or later. I like to lean into corners way too much, ill stick with skiing..

A friend of mine had a crash with his Hayabusa 2 years ago. Only at 30 km/h and he was only slightly injured. But he was so shocked that he swore never to touch a bike again..

Couple of m8s had near misses and sold their bikes the next day. As a kid two of my m8s died in pretty gruesome motorbike accidents, then I went on the back of one without a helmet at like 80 mph (young and stupid), felt like I kissed death and never touched the things ever again.

In reply to your comment as well as all the other "HUH??" comments on Michigan removing the helmet requirement, I've gotta say that I'm pleasantly surprised by the response of ESR members that share that sentiment - we've got some reasonable people in here after all! But seriously, I just can't understand how this law passed a popular vote AND wasn't vetoed by the governor. It blows my mind.

Meanwhile, lane splitting which has mostly beneficial aspects gets denied.

Much less pollution so it's environmentally friendly, reduces traffic congestion, if it was "taught" in MSF courses and people would be more educated about it, it could have only positive effects on the traffic.

2-cylinder isn't it? Puputputputputputput! Thought about a monster too back in the day. But prefer 4-cyl noise afterall, and 2-cyl is often a tad too loud if u change pipes Dx

yeah, 2 cylinder, but with Termignoni carbon fiber exhaust and silencers removed, it's pretty awesome. Here's a video with pretty good sound reproduction of the real thing (of course the bass is lacking - really shakes the ground in real life).

And with the performance chip and air intake, it gets close to 90 horsepower. For a 170kg bike with a 55kg rider, that's not bad!

Yeah I know the sound, the sweetest thing ever :) But a little too loud for my liking, can't commute with it without ear plugs. Had a 125 CBR with full Arrow exhaust system and even that hurt to ride without ear plugs :d

Here's my ex-baby :( Can't help missing it watching these now Dx 102 bhp 200 kg or something close to that. But it did wheelie or spin the wheel 1st gear which is enough for me. I liked the sound too! It had only the muffler changed though.

Ok that's a nice option to have. Hehe yeah I started dreaming about a 900 cc hornet too :p Only a little more power but dat torque! I didn't ride much so it was pretty expensive to keep. Still a student so... :< For a next bike I'd love a 600 RR or some supermoto. Even something like DRZ 400 would be a neat everyday bike :p
