It surely can't be made on purpose, Syncerror even said thay have it "fixed internally". I don't know why they don't roll out a small update/patch with this fixed, hope we don't have to wait months :(

Purposely introduce a bug to a 15 year old game, then fix it next patch so to your bosses it looks like you are working really hard (c) syncerror.

haha, so you can avoid 9:59 combacks by just dropping dead and spawning on the other side of the map in theory :D

I thought it was just bug.

Lava and acid deaths do not decrease score either.

Fixed as of now :)
