I've heard speed running streamers and people commenting in the chat about Q3A runs but no-ones ever done it for some reason. Would be good to start.

Like umm how do you speedrun a game whit a fraglimit? That has enemies with random routes?


In action game speedruns the runner abuses scripted events and map design etc to complete the games objectives without having to deal with all the enemies and other crap in the meanwhile, thereby not playing the game the way it's designed to be played. Since q3a sp is simply ffa with bots the main objective is to hit the fraglimit and you simply cannot find a genuine way of doing it apart from playing the game the way it's meant to be played and shoot the green robots. You could ofc still find a way to hit the fraglimit faster via spamming bfg into the quadroom etc.... :D

ppl speedrun FF9 which is hoping you don't get any random encounter basically.
Also the patterns the bots have aren't that random, back in the days i could hit Uriel from the other side of the map basically.

Having watched the video in #11, Q3 is not suitable for AGQD.

Q3 isn't a single player adventure in first place (that alone pretty much disqualifies it), it isn't impressive to watch neither to 'casuals' nor to the 'hardcore' crowd, it's repetitive and way too long for what the game is, isn't something the viewers can relate to (who would donate for this no-name game?), most likely no Q3/QL player would travel there without charging for anything, the actual player has to be someone funny (so no eastern european robot that practically can't speak in english), etc. etc.

Would rather watch the desert bus event than Q3 in AGDQ. At least there they have some companions talking; a show.

I wouldn't go as far as saying it will be awe inspiring (no special tricks and tips but repetitive fragging with item timing) but this game is still possible to run at AGQD.

Single Segment (playing the whole game in one go) with death is acceptable and has never been done so far so there isn't even a goal. It will never be as refined as the video above though which is made with demos from very (very) refined attempts done by various players overtime.

I remeber K1rua talking about doing a single segment run at some point. All you need is strong fighting skills and the will to train.

I would pay money for cooller to do it, even if it's just him sitting there smirking and swearing in Russian to his heart's content.

Would be awesome and attract quite a bit of viewers :D
