They just click on join, or double click on the server and it works!

But why are they allowed to join higher tier servers? :/

For some of them it's either t4 or no play (ping and low playerbase issues).

maybe its time for you to realise CA is not realy Quake and moreover you should warmly welcome new players and accept to lose rather than whine because of it or because you think ppl are hacking if you lose.

i agree with you. but there are also some people that click red servers just because 'i wanna play with the pros and i dont give a fuck what u think'. theres a surprisingly large amount of massive ego's on QL, for the 17 players we have left :>

quake players have massive egos, too bad it also implies not being able to see own shortcomings, admit when something is their own fault etc. A big ego does not automatically cut those functions off, but alot of quake players seem to lack basic ability to blame anything on themselves.

lots of ppl get mad if you tell them it would be better to play other server, instead of ruining game for everyone else. Expect 12y old response when being polite about it, they only understand kick or gtfo faggot - shitty cunt, go fuck yourself - you suck - fuck you, etc.

Ca became unplayable when certain people thought ca elo had some meaning and they were exceptionally good.

My only problem is the lack of a competent shuffle system. I can see why the devs think good matchmaking is like chasing a unicorn, they can't even balance players per game let alone try and do it over their entire career. 10-0, shuffle before next game, result: Entire red team is now on blue, entire blue team now on red, ffs.

Maybe they can purchase the shuffle code from the 3wave developer(s). While their's wasn't perfect, it's far, far better than the shit qlive has.

People put a lot of faith in TrueSkill as used by QLranks, I believe it's possibly the best a system can be. You can't account for fakes on new accounts well, or hackers,or a good player letting his lil' bro play a couple of rounds on his account.

Clicking down the servers here and waiting for ExtraQL to give me the team average qlranks rating, it's very rare to see a gap of 100, and it's usually far far less, no way to know if they even shuffled.

When I've been actually on a server and tried /elo shuffle after a ql shuffle I've not seen a gap bigger than 10 myself yet.

It doesn't mean much, it's pure personal observation of one player, but still..

The problem wouldn't be the shuffle algorithm itself but the skill estimations. Shuffle should have been called "balance" from the start.

Also quitting mid game should get you a 5-10 min DEBUFFso you cant join a new serv straight away (cunts)! :P

You know, I bet some people won't like that idea about having a debuff if you quit. However, it worked really, really well in WoW multiplayer portions of that game. The amount of people that dropped went down tremendously when they implemented it several years ago. Though, WoW's debuff lasted 30 minutes while you mentioned shorter ones. I would not be upset if they added 30 minute debuff in QL. But, only if you quit. In WoW, you had 3 minutes to return in case you had somehow lost net connection on accident.

Edit: That said, if something like that were implemented, they would have to make it so the noobs can't join T4. Or even T3, for that matter, or they'll just quit once they realize what a horrible mistake they've made.

What if you get disconnected or some asshole decides to kick you? Will you get penalized for that?

Of course! The system should most definitely not differentiate between willingly leaving a server and getting kicked/disconnected.
