Sadly, the venue still doesn't provide 120/240hz monitors. I was promised that they will be able to provide about 8 monitors for the lan, but I will know for sure in upcoming months. The way I see it, we will have to bring them ourselves just like the last time.

Hm... sad Panda is sad.

Especially since they have a partnership with EIZO, have those cardboard stands advertising their monitors all over the place... and then you're sitting there, thinking "if that's what they advertise, I'll go check with the competition instead, thanks for the hint!"

Sober thinking marketing manager would tell them not to supply the venue with low end crap if they're going to advertise there...

Last year zowie stepped in at the last second and put some prize gear in exchange for basically zero exposure, maybe this year it would work a bit better with them donating a fair amount of money in exchange for having their logo always on the stream, some ads playing during breaks, or even renaming the event to ZOWIE TDM Masters or something.

edit: Also, would be nice to have the donations in dollars for consistency between lans, also higher numbers=better.

That page is such a lie.

When donating �100 it says "You'll save � 11.66 vs your bank", but then the predicted difference is �2 and they say exchange rate can change by 3% (which would make them more expensive than bank transfer, although I assume that wouldn't happen).

And they say money will be there by Thursday, meanwhile SEPA transfers guarantee next day delivery. I want to be on the ESR post faster! Staying with my bank, sorry.

As the name of the event says, it is going to be primarily TDM lan, but if somebody comes up with a reasonable plan/offer for a duel tournament, I believe we can spare couple of computers for that. Sadly, there is not enough time for any other mode.

Only thing worrying is the monitor situation. Constant switching places, setups etc is what slowed the lan way down last time around.
Ideal situation would be for everyone to have hes/hers pc with a 120hz monitor (that would also meant there would need to be a limit on the number of teams that could attend).

Was sure the owner would have upgraded by now :\

No, what i meant is bumping the thread and keeping it active. Right now theres already 6 donators and 3 teams signed but it wasn't mentioned it in any new post and prolly alot people dont know about it (anyone that haven't re-read the op).

Also last time donators got a good kind of reward with people plusing them here in this post, now that doesnt happen and that is by the same reason i mentioned. :P

Hey there i only noticed now that according to my plans i might be @ prague during the LAN on vacations!

Is there gonna be any sort of duel competition?

I'll try to talk the amazing ins into showing up, you might have free hotel room ins.. we just have to share the bed! Might aswell just share everything else..

It is probably a good idea to offer something jucy to the brand in exchange for money, like renaming the event to XXXBRAND's TDM CHAMPIONSHIP or promising them a fragmovie of the event with their logo all over it. Fragmovies still get a decent number of views nowadays.

but knowing what last year's schedule looked like and how it turned out in the end I wouldn't hope for just a 'free afternoon'. pretty sure at some point duel tourney would have to go alog with the tdm one simultanously.

Think that estimate of PCs is too low of a number to be able to hold group stage and playoffs. Last year there were ~54 players (that were in some stages supposed to play at the same time in the best case scenario),

Not saying it�s not doable, and rly not trying to be negative, BUT I just don�t see it happening. Wision was all over the place as is. Can�t imagine two tournaments simultaneously.

again judging by last year and as wision said 4 pcs for the duel tournament could be spared imho. different story with monitors which is also an issue limiting the tdm tournament to smaller ammount of computers at the same time.

i know how it was last year i was there and tbh most of the computers were taken but lot of the people were just messing around on them not really playing

i mean as koziol said 4 or slightly more PCs could be speared for sure and it could be enough for those 8 players and then it's up to them to organize the cup itself

Absolutely, you're in the right place :)

What I mean is simply for you to organize it right before/after the QL TDM LAN.

Last year on Thursday the venue was mostly empty, we had no problems renting basically whole floor for tdmers and getting a discount :)

A lot of that messing around was waiting coz of delays, or not having 4 pcs next to each other etc.
Of course there were off times, ppl wanted to chill, spec, hang around etc. But wasn�t rly like: here u go, 10 pcs and 6h free for ya. I can see how I can come off sounding too pessimistic, maybe I�m just too traumatised coz of all the pc switching and setting up constantly :)
Just remember all the burned usb hubs, monitor switching, setting up sound, czk language, asking czechs to find smth etc:) With the monitor situation apparently going to be the same as last year, an extra tourney just seems like a stretch.

But if wision mentioned it, he would know better, and I have nothing more to add.

guys i didn't talk to wision yet or anything but I'll be creating some graphic materials for the lan whether he likes it or not (I already have it cooking) and i was thinking about designing some lan t shirts for interested attendees. basically i'm gonna have some ideas for the design in the next day or two and if you're gonna want one drop me an im or something with yor size and shyt. they're not gonna be very expensive and everyone will be able to afford one gonna make sure of that (the price is gonna depend on the ammount and couple other things but you can expect they're gonna cost normal eu t shirt price, 0 profit by me goes without saying). i think it would make a cool souvenir. what do you say?

edit: pick up of course: district cafe prague tdm lan #2. ~~oh yeah they can be personalised with your name and stuff~~ (after some consideration: that would cost a fuckton) and i'll make sure to make them extra cool or whatever. what?
