those are my settings. i have no changed senscap or offset at all. i may have misspoken when i said it was the same effect. based on what lorfa said in another thread, MY settings make my sensitivity +1 when it is activated because of my accelpower setting. i dont have 2 different sensitivities in the sense that you could have 2 completely different sensitivities.

Just tried some swipes with your method vs mine. I compared sens 2, acceloffset 3, senscap 3, accelpower 2 with sens 2, acceloffset 3, senscap 3, accelpower 1. Your method reduced my mouse movement by about 90 degrees. But i tried some extreme settings like sens 2, acceloffset 5,senscap 5 so i know the sens increase is there. Also your method has the advantage of being easier to use (like not needing higher dpi to use a higher sens increase than 1) but has the disadvantage that you can't set the offset higher than your senscap.

Regardless i agree with you 100%. More people should use this. It's a bit harder to get used to than normal accel but for the first time i found a middle ground with my rockets and lg and don't have to sacrifice one for the other.

I tried out your settings and they produce a similar result, but the increase of 1 in sensitivity is not enough for me to do comfortable 180 flicks. I could change DPI on mouse but man I'm not in the mood for that :) It's a nice trick though!

Why should offset and senscap be the same? They are two different things. Offset is a velocity, senscap is a sens.

What these settings are actually doing are just jumping between sens 2.1 and 3.6 really quickly due to the high accel of 0.8 after the offset is reached, but there is still some sens variation between the two.

So when you reach 0.2 m/s, sens will go from 2.1 to 3.6 as you go from 0.2 to 0.28 m/s which is pretty tiny.

I guess I should've explained that a bit more, cl_mouseacceloffset can be higher than senscap. But if I'm not mistaken all that does is that you have to adjust either cl_mouseaccelpower or cl_mouseaccel to a higher value in order to get the same "trigger point" when the sens switches from low sens (in my case 2.1) to high sens (3.6) . I set them to the same value just to keep things simple. Please correct me on this if I'm wrong.

This is exactly what I want, the higher sens when im using my wrist for fast "flick movements" and the lower sens when I need more precision.

Set accel to something ridiculously high like 999. As soon as you exceed the offset threshold, accel will increase sensitivity to your senscap.

Increasing mouseaccel makes it feel like the trigger point for switching from low to high sens gets lower. Mouseaccel @ 0.8 just feels like a good setting to me personally. I've tried higher mouseaccels but didn't like it that much.

Yes, I had the first generation Icemat, I still have my slightly larger Steelseries I-2. The surface is comparable, I'd say exactly the same. Since there are different types of frosted glass I'd advise to bring along your old glass mousepad and compare the two surfaces. Since it was overly thick (6mm compared to my desired 4mm) it cost a bit more, roughly 30 dollars / 20 euros.

I find the accel between 0.2 and 0.28m/s preferable. With accel 999 I find the movement a bit to erratic, with the accel at 0.8 I get a "sense" of when top sens will be reached.

To each his own I guess, I just think it would be interesting if people tried this out to see how it works for them. I suspect this might be something both accel and non-accel lovers would appreciate :)

I'm thinking about changing mine to something bigger but glass as well.

I bought it from the local glass specialist, unfortunately he didn't have 4mm thick frosted glass, so the one I have is 6mm, which is a bit thick. It cost me like 30 dollars/20 euros or so but it would've been cheaper if he had 4mm thick glass.

On the underside of the pad I attached small rubber pieces similar to the ones on the original icemat. I bought these (5x2) from Ikea for about 1 dollar.

whenever I watch rapha's pov it looks like he's aiming with his brain to me. Like, he sets up literally everything, even lg. Cypher does that a lot too, but he also has moments where he hits ridiculously hard shots you just can't set up.

That's why I separate duel aim and other gametypes. When people are aiming in duel it's a lot more prediction heavy and rapha is good at that.
Rapha when he's played ca with the people i normally play with, he gets last place a lot.

Its fair to say cyphers aim is currently overrated online, but try watching DHW '13 matches.
Besides his rocket and rail aim has been one of the greatest online too, but I guess in your book only LG accuracy counts ;)

At DHW '13 it was definately on and better than raphas, even LG wise.

The recent change from WMO to razer mice dont really seem to help his aim though.

What about all the other weapons? How good are you with the rail? rockets? Are you saying no accel is superior to accel? Then why are most pros using accel?

The higher your sensitivity is the less important accel is. Not to say you can't use low sensitivity without accel. It's just taxing and you will respond slowly to certain situations. I think what pros use doesn't matter very much because it's their mental game that counts. It takes monstrous aim to defeat an intelligent seasoned dueler consistently.

you dont realize the reverse benefits of accel being that even with a higher sens, your crosshair moves more slowly when you move your mouse more slowly, and if you find the right mixture of strafe and mouse aim, your crosshair can seem to feel "sticky"

That is entirely preference, though. There isn't evidence you can point to that suggests accel in its various forms is better than vanilla. Just as many players claim it's detrimental.

Now the only thing left is to do something useful with your life.

This doesn't seem that interesting or helpful. Gradieted accel via accelpower 6-14 is more interesting. The curve stops differentiating afterwards at functional settings. ie accel magnitudes of .0000x - .000000x.

So for the interest of what I set for, I want my fastest movement comfortably possible to hit the upper end of the accelpower curve before it begins significantly approaching limit. That's my precise 180 or effortless quick rj in any direction (race or something). I never need to move faster than this. Anyone who thinks snap rails are the game aren't watching top players. Consistent placement is the key. At low/med speeds there is little accel influence. As things become more frenetic the mouse becomes more free. You lose consistency in the interest of maintaining with speed of situation...yet the loss of consistency is much below the hard 'kick' of mouseacceloffset if you set it correctly. Essentially, you are never over-chasing your mat or under-utilizing it's area and granularity if you can key in how to set this. It's hard to explain until you play with it.

So, I dunno how this stuff plays around outside of m_cpi, and suspect these settings may not be reachable without throwing float errors or get rounded on m_cpi 0. Let me load up QL real quick so I can give a good reference for what I am currently playing with:

In a sense we're doing the same thing. With mouseaccelpower >2 you have a logarithmic increase of pointer speed (I suspect you use mousesenscap) whereas in my case (mouseaccelpower 2, but I'm not saying you couldn't change that) you have a delayed (?) linear increase.

I tried out your way using a large mouseaccelpower value (20-30) and found it quite nice to be honest.

Personally I think the way I have set it up works better for me, I like to have my lower range of velocity not change in effective mouse speed by accel in order to get more consistent tracking (not having to correct for accel).

No, you don't need a senscap you simply need to reduce your accel. Again, I don't know how these things work out of m_cpi, but if you aren't using it your functional accel values at m_cpi 0 will be magnitudes of .0000000000000000x or something which I don't think QL will accept and will simply round to some value that won't work. I mean, I only understand this situation as far as my setup, but the accelpower curve is self-limiting. Like, at a particular point (the bend in the curve) everything quickly approaches max and is for intents and purposes the same usage as 'offset' without using offset or senscap.

I've also tested large accelpower values and they seem to have problems. The self-limiting curve relevant area seems to still be at the same place but it increases how 'spikey' the accel is in fast movement and how non-existant it is at low speeds. Play around 6-14 accelpower. This in my experience is where the value of it shines and has a smooth accel curve. Interesting though too, is that mouse movement seems finer, especially at very high accelpower values. I can't explain this, but suspect it has to do with m_cpi and how things are calculated. Like, values that would be rounded as direct cvars otherwise: accel .0000000000000x gets rounded and is meaningless in QL. But with m_cpi x accel .000000x or something (a non-float error rounding factor) is functional as intended and translatable to an accel at m_cpi 0 that QL would ignore and round.

Sorry to bombard you, but I've played with senscap and offset a ton and honestly, they are very crude ways of doing what I think you want. You want consistent performance at low speed and the freedom of high speed...but you can get consistent performance throughout the spectrum without 'kick's. Your configuration is an intentional 'kick'. The thing I am describing will just be a purely granular accel increase based on mouse speed, rather than "IS mouse moving this fast? if so, suddenly multiply sensitivity, if not do nothing". So you can play at very low or low-mid sense and enjoy all that offers without appearing that you are vigorously cleaning your desktop. While still being able to adjust to any situation organically. A lot of people are comfortable enough with their setups that it's ok to have offset and senscap for rj's/180 and unlikely situations, but I would argue that effects their gameplay and how they approach the game because they will consciously and subconsciously avoid situations that they feel they can't maintain consistency in. IE Heartless or someone who is high skill level, but will back away from a direct aim situation and prefer planar...even when they have the upper hand! Players will GIVE a situation to you simply because they are limited by their mouse setup, but they don't consciously get this.

In what situations? Surely on stock, you feel you are bounded in some situations and simply decide, 'they just aren't LG situations'. This makes sense until you consider that they are indeed LG situations. Yes, you are a very good situational player and can probably out LG most people on a plane. That's not really an accuracy test and harkens to Heartless's brags of middling 40 LGs on Thunderstruck while baiting the plane match across ledges.

But...what if you can have your cake and eat it too? If you play with mouseaccelpower you can hit something that is pretty transparent to what you are already doing with some really amazing benefits in the direct tracking departments.

I had something similair aswell. I had sens 2 accell 0.1 offset 5 and senscap 5. It was interesting, but it was basically sens 2.5 and 5. and in most situations youre gonna have a bad time. Too random.

There is not so much discussion about this considering many people use accel. I'm experimenting with offset values at the moment and I havn't quite found the right setting.

I have sens 2.5, 0.2 accel, senscap 6 and offset 4 atm. I don't quite understand everything about it yet, but I'm still learning about what offset value I find comfortable. I'm using fov 95.
