I would sign up but resilient aka gnik and gnik2 doesn't follow his own rules. Example last nights cup playing with a new account that doesn't have enough play time. Can't trust organizers that break their own rules.

Am I the only person here that feels like there are too many duel cups going on in NA right now? Faceit, targetquake, SiU, this. Have we forgotten about team modes? I know that this has a prize pool, which is awesome, but it would be great for the NA quake scene to have some tdm or freezetag tournaments once in a while.

2v2 tdm and ca is not really what I have in mind when I think of team games. 4 person teams battling it out is a blast for everybody involved, and it builds strong relationships in the community, which carries over into a stronger overall quake scene.

so have someone step up and make a tdm league. always see these too much duel. but no one ever steps in to fill in the tdm void.

i remember csn tried to do a tdm cup before quakecon a few years ago with like 1k for prizes, they coudn;t even get 3 full teams to participate. then for their 4v4 ca cups there were massive amount of cheaters.............

I am just proposing a thought of mine. I'm sure that once the word is out there about a team cup then people will want to play. The question is just how it will be organized and when will it be played. I guess we'll just have to wait and see.

Those 2v2 tdm cups get zero teams every time. Or one team. A few times there was another team signed up, but as soon as we signed our team up they bailed.

Also although what you say in comment #9 is completely true, CSN went about everything the completely wrong way.. anything they ever did was destined to fail before the first signup.

Truth of the matter is team modes have only been given the correct treatment in NA in 08-2010 QuakeNight leagues. Granted the game was more popular back then also, but QN also did things properly and created an environment in which many different types of players wanted to participate.... not just Nx and UFX... know what im saying??

For those that don't remember QN had about 10-12 4v4 tdm and ctf teams in the early stages, seperated in geographical divisions (east and west). Later on they ran a highly successful 2v2 tdm league with teams seperated into two divisions via skill. IRC was manditory, it had no cash prizes, the website was simple and it worked... so people signed up.

People don't signup to one day cups worth $1k when they see UFX or Nx signed up. The skill gaps are too wide and the motivations are gone (hint, money should never be the motivation).

I think those 2v2 tdm ones on faceit don't get any sort of isolated attention like this 3rd party cups do (SIU, F3League, Targetquakeleague, etc)

Waiting for web coder to tie up some loose ends so we can proceed. I might just ask for the source soon and see if I can't finish it myself, its written in ruby i think. Then I plan to put in place a staff for the thing so I don't have to come in contact with this retarded community, and can focus on being a player again :)

Nothing if you're running a tournament.

This is a multi divisonal league spanning 8 weeks + playoffs.

Just not to long ago Jehar ran a Freeze tag tournament in place of King of the hill and it was very successful 6 or 8 teams formed up with a bunch of people waiting to sub. I'm surprised he hasn't made it a more normal thing. Ins owned everyone but it was still a fun night.

Would be nice to see a team mode revival in NA, get some drafts going.

Instead of 20 duel cups, just make one dedicated TDM or even CA event, just anything to support and promote team games.
