Exactly! There's a lot of stuff to include.

They have some sponsors - Razor, for example. In the past they've also rented out the studio (I think for something CS related). But I also imagine the first couple of years of Faceit is about creating a widely known and trusted brand, so that in future they will get bigger and better sponsors, and hired to do coverage of more events. I doubt they made the business model targeting profit from Year 1.

Good point on the profit not aimed to happen at year 1, but still, they will continue to have expenses such as.

Probably minimum 1500-2000$ to rent a house with 3-4 bedrooms + studio in Milano, and just 500$ for them each to live for. I'm not familiar with their CS:GO cash payout, but for Quake alone it's minimum 600$.

Let's just assume that Razer pays out all prizes, which would possible for the sake of Quake alone with 600$, but their CS:GO payouts are for monthly finals alone 1500$, which would be quite generous of Razer, but who knows :D

So how to get 4000$ (minimum?). Their twitch subscriptions are 5$, but twitch takes 50%, which would make them need 1600 subs, but that's around 1/2 of all viewers on the most populated sunday cups, and when considering the twitch-chat, it doesn't seem like 1/2 are subs. I know they have premium on FACEIT aswell, and can gain 50-100$ from ads.

My numbers might be totally wrong, or some income I've missed, but unless someone is doing big payouts, i don't see this as a model which can continue, unless they probably triple their viewer numbers, but hey, I only know about Quake, CS:GO might be where all the money is at.

(Please note that I'm not here to harass the great work of FACEIT or conclude that the FACEIT business model is not sustainable, i know 0 about economics, and just want to understand how this works - can someone help me out? )

I enjoyed my trip to FACEIT in week one, they're awesome. Just couldn't commit to 3-4 days per week to travel back and forth from Italy to cover the QL Sunday Cups. As much as i think the game misses commentators like Joe, 2GD and Calipt in duel... plus the likes of Level Up TV coverage for TDM... I think we're in a good place with the dedication from Zoot and Ins on 125FPS, plus ddk really starting to shine with FACEIT.

Looking forward to FACEIT's coverage of DH, gonna be awesome! GJ with the interview.
