Stating a cause for a ban publicly could be considered libelous. And we know how sensitive the id crew is with legal matters. This way, they don't have to present proof of the reason of the ban, and simply have to justify it with the usual "violation of the TOS".

You cannot play with a new account because you are banned by IP and MAC address... It will just say 'awaiting snapshot 1...2..3... etc..' and then 'You are banned. Contact Support.' The only way to circumvent the ban is to either change internet provider or contact your current one and say that you have been hacked and you want your IP address to change.

You can't be banned by MAC as it's not propagated outside your network, instead it's substituted by every nodes own MAC through the way. Also your ISP has nothing to do with MAC. There might be some guid banning though, I don't know.

A MAC is like anything else. It can very well be transmitted outside of a packet's header.

stop talking out your ass. MAC address banning makes no sense, and in the context of the grandparent post, you cannot do this. there is GUID banning, indeed, but it is no longer related to MAC address, which is easily changed anyway.
