A lot of debate in this one, while PS4 looks like a good console i could just say just save your money and get or build your own computer. That's where real gamers look into when playing games like Quake or Metro Last Light

The sad thing is that many-many (well, most of them) jRPGs (and beat 'em ups or visual novels) doesn't have a PC version, so if you like the genre(s), you are basically "forced" to buy a PS3 (/4) - which is not necessarily bad, but a fact.

Which visual novels came to ps3 but not to pc? It's one of the most pc exclusive genres around.

But it's true that more PSP (/PSV) exclusive VNs than PS3 ones. But the main point is the numerous jRPGs (like Final Fantasy XIII, XIII-2, Tales of Vesperia (more content than in X360 version), Tales of Xillia 1-2, Tales of Graces, Hyperdimension Neptunia, White Knight Chronicles, Valkyria Chronicles, Ar tonelico Qoga: Knell of Ar Ciel, Disgaea 3, Eternal Sonata, Resonance of Fate, Cross Edge, etc. etc.).
Or beat 'em ups (like BlazBlues - except the first because that has a PC version).
The list is even much more longer if you have a machine that can play PS2 / PS discs.

Cheaper by a considerable amount thanks to OPTION of no camera which when you consider the recent PRISM its downright scary.

I'll probably get a PS4 six months down the line, when there are titles that interest me, and the hardware quirks have been ironed out. However, it's bit of a moot point for me, since I was never looking to buy an xbox (of any kind)

those hardware issues will probably never end, bough a ps3 in 2008 that shit broke 2 years later after light use, consoles suck balls, they cram so much shit in a tiny box that shit gets dust and overheats and breaks and disc drives get broken after continuous disc spinning, you can play pc ports with gamepd on tv anyways, they make consoles from cheapest parts possible

Dunno, I have had a launch ps1/2 and a latter-day ps3 slim and they didn't crap out on me, guess I was lucky. The only reason why I buy consoles is because of Japanese games that don't see the light of day on the pc, just like why I have a pc, because of Western games that don's see the light of day on consoles. Best of both worlds. :D

big titles are way to far in between to get a dedicated machine just for those games, at least for vast majority of people, hardcore console gamers yes, but for everyone else pc is the only sane solution, even more so this gen, after most gamedevs moved onto tablet and mobile

Nonsense, if you're a real fan of a game you will get a system for it.
Factor in many of your friends will have these consoles aswell and its as much a gateway to interact with them (in the gaming sense) than anything else.

My main gripe of consoles is I mostly like FPS games and I do not enjoy playing FPS on a pad even if the game is really good.

Once you have gotten to grips with keyboard and mouse its difficult to go backwards.

Obviously PC is best but the games are dead compared to console because so many people don't know what to get to build a PC or what they need, and its also more expensive. Look at COD on xbox 360 the last few years, everyone's granddad and their dog had played it or at least heard of it. Fifa too.

Because at the moment, you can't buy nothing as powerful as the ps4 for 400 $. You can already build much more powerful pcs than any console, but it will cost you way more.
Plus consoles are more stable systems, and it is very comfortable to have a system dedicated mainly to games and useless things, but this is another question.

Bolt statement. Counting handheld consoles also, I'm very confident to bet against that. The most big N will do is shift their main market, I could imagine opting for low-end graphics when other consoles go for foto-realism all the way.

Nintendo is the company actually making a lot of money off of their consoles from release day 1. Sony and Microsoft as the only other big players atm are like printer manufacturers, they practically give their hardware for free and try to make the money with licenses, software, periphals and only in the long run with HW.
