slimk is old story now (seeing him for a long time) and I never see H41 in the faceit or else so I'm not sure about him.

Xron could replace slimk and rmplr or bpatela could replace H41.

H41 was streamed a few cups ago, not sure in which one exactly. He lost to some similar level guy in a close ztn game I believe, and they were talking about the lack of experience/bad decisions and how stermy will talk about this game with him, and he'll come back stronger after learning from those mistakes. However, since then I haven't seen him in FACEIT either.

I wouldn't call 1600 elo 'similar level' (h41 is around 2000). Also that was my first game in like 2 weeks and before that I haven't played for almost 2 months. So yeah, I wouldn't pick h41 for a rising star, sorry.

I wrote "too low", because in RS 2 all players were between 1700 and 2000 Elo. rmplr currently does not meet that standard, but in the previous 30 days he reached 1700 multiple times, and I believe he could play close games or even beat some of those players. Elo is not a measure of constant skill, it goes up and down, and I perfectly know that.

I even think some of the higher elo players would be interesting to see play, and I'm perfectly fine with whatever 8 they choose if there's happen to be a 3rd series, even if it includes 0 of my suggestions. I'm no expert, and never said that, I just like to watch and discuss Quake. :)

Imo decent picks would be rzd, zeun, jetro and coow if he hasnt participated in one of the last ones. The only promising player from that list tho is coow but who knows.

H41 has great aim but that is it. Needs to play more maps.

Also it would seem that his recent development as a player was happening right when I was just getting to know who's who and what's going on in the scene so I already knew him from his best side. And all of my information about past skill sets of players and the whole quake shebang is being aquired retroactively, so my so called facts may be in some instances blurry at best and plain wrong at worst. in summary: Gienek is an oldschool, excellent (imho) player who is rising up only recently (afaik) in the duel scene. whether or not it qualifies him as a candidate for this type of cup I'm not sure:]

1,7-1,8k ELO is not a rising star at all, especially if thats their peak, theyre the bottom of the high skill tier at best (more like top of mid).

Khris is a ztn-noobdestroyer, we can deduct about 3-400 points of h41s ELO discounting the eye2eye games, also some of the names like k1llmaster being around since forever.

IMO instead of elo recent activity and cup results should matter: rzd, brody, zeun, slafz, seven are legit candidates maybe toss in coow and xron.

1700-1800 elo would be the perfect elo range for a rising stars event imo, anything lower and they wouldn't be good enough to be classed as a rising star, but anything over 2000ish elo kinda defeats the purpose, as they are pretty much nearly there already.

Maybe i misunderstood the purpose, thought its for 8 active "unknowns" out of top 100 or something, as the previous atendees with a few exception was also well over 1900-2000.

1700-1800 should not be considered 'rising star' (unless that person has been playing QL less than 12 months with no history of quake games).

The ELO system is basically based around your percentage chance of beating a player.

In my mind, a rising star is someone who can 'sometimes' beat a top player (2200+ elo).

1700 elo has a 96% chance of losing to 2200 elo.
1800 elo has a 92% chance of losing to 2200 elo.

Yea, I know what you mean. For me, that rare (extremely rare...) time that I can beat someone half decent, it is almost a "did that really happen?" type of moment.

I wouldn't class myself as afwul at QL, but I never played any other Quake game and I only started duelling with intent back in November, so any time I can beat someone that I shouldn't tecnically be able to beat, it always adds a little more incentive to keep playing.

I never put much if any effort in to duelling back in the day. Brescia and I practised a few times but in the end him and Mikas and just about every other player of the danish q3 scene surpassed me in every way in that mode; I backed off and kept my gamemodes strictly to TDM, Ra3 and CTF in that specific order.

Also: I was 12 to 15 years old; I HAD SCHOOL YOU KNOW!

Today however I am on welfare, diagnosed with ADD and have a shit ton of education ahead of me that I SHOULD have started on at least 5 years ago. This inevitably equals lots of quake!

No, all I wanna say is that he has potential that`s it. After seeing some of the listed names and the knowledge I got about them (playing against them) he was a legitimate candidate imo. Im not even interested to play as I dont really care about improving and secondly Im not even good enough.
