p.s.: btw, how long do you think it will take to create teams on this site? :D cuz i remember it takes about 10seconds sometime to create 2 teams from 8 players.
maybe, just for lolz, during the week, i will try to get 64 teams from 256 players, which i will type manually and see if site will handle it?

teams are done pretty fast, it's not a problem, the site is slow itself

It did take 10 seconds some time ago, when beta.quake.cz was down and I was running the website on even slower server :). Currently it takes around 3-5 seconds to create two teams from 8 players.

Creating 16 teams from 64 players takes around 30 seconds and creating 64 teams from 256 players takes almost 2 minutes. It's not _that_ bad if you ask me.

For your peace of mind, we'll call you a captain. :)

But yes - teams will be auto-generated and balanced, using the same ratings as the usual auto-teams.

Which is also why we require participants to finish at least 10 pickups before the tournament, to make sure only meaningful ratings are used.

Not sure where I said I wanted to be a captain, in fact i hate having to pick teams, but cool.

I was afraid it would scare people off and convinced wision to announce a smaller map pool.

Out of all people, you know best how people react to new maps :) So we've settled on one "new" map (Limbus) for the first tournament of the series.

Today we ran a small public test draft to see if all works.

Two minor bugs were discovered :)

We let 16 players in to make it quick. After adding, bot generated the following teams:

We ran semis bo1 and final bo3 and it took nearly 2 hours to complete (3 maps total played by the finalists), which I think is 30 minutes too much, but within expectations.

Matches have been added to QLStats as normal pickups (match links: semi 1 semi 2 final map 1 final map 2).

We are aware that not everyone can play on sunday. We will try to run tournaments also on different days.. not just sunday.

Sunday is seemingly the day when most players are available and the next week will see very little Clanbase activity. Also, Faceit will be in semis when we start the draft. I'm convinced this is the best date and time for first tournament of the series.

For the next one, we'll probably think of a weekday. I will be lobbying to put it on a weekday with most pickups played (which in the past was Friday, with Tusday in second place - pecka keeps nice stats, thanks for those btw :))

Is there any possibility to setup a buy-in for these kind of tourneys so there will be money in the prizes? I think this would be great as anyone at any skill level will have a chance to win it :-)

Was only a suggestion, and it doesnt have to be some big buy-in. Maybe just 1$ or something. Wouldnt hurt to try, and if the turnout is no signups then dont do it again. I dont play for the prizes either, but just think it would add something to the tourney, and with the way teams are made everyone has a chance to win.

I wouldnt mind chippin in 1$, but either way im happpy with the tourney as it is. As i said, was only a suggestion :)

This seems nice, but the problem is if you've got people that want to play but have money issues/no paypal/credit cards.
Don't really know how to work around issues it would bring into this tournament.

2. You not able to /ignore ppl, or u banned by Wision
3. You have to name yourslef in 1st person
4. Other rules doesnot work on this service - ppl can ragequit, can sabotage map vote, can intentionally tkill as being retarded
5. Wision and Lam is kings and they only judge what is content is appreptiate fro comminuty or not.

What is the spirit like in #tdmpickup vs tdm noobs?

I would really like to get into TDM more but have only played a few games. I have mostly played CA and have like 400 duels but obviously lack TDM skills.

Would it be recommended to play public TDM games first or will one be accepted in #tdmpickup?

for those community stats (size) really matters, so if you deal more 5.0K damage, have a good stats you able to play here, overwise, no matter you team WIN, they'll piss you off, sabotage or ban. many players behave agressive, troll, write shit etc, so be carefull.

it kinda depends, if you're really bad but dont act like an asshole and are willing to listen/learn, it should be fine.

Always feel free to add me, I have a couple of TDM friends with who I occasionally play and hang out with on teamspeak. Today I kinda played my first tdmpickup games.

As for public I have mixed feelings, can never be harmfull to play it and to get familair with the maps in the pickup pool. (location of items etc) However the way you actually end up playing is in my experience very much different from pickup gams, due to quitters and what not.

dont listen FRS i got 132 games on tdm pickup 38 won (29%) and dealing extremely low damage (2-3) but playing usefull (on my opinion) - but playes start to insult me and asking to ban and go play public, start to sabotage games with me, talking shit all around. never seen such unfriendly community to noobs

tdmpick is not loyal to any players who got 2-3k damage even if their team WON.

if you can deal 5k damage per match i suppose u are welcome

imho 2 skill based draft with groups will be more attractive and will take less time. i dont blame or angry to players with less skills. imho this can give more them more practice against similar skill players. idealy 32 players = 8 teams. 2 groups bo1. best 2 goes for bo3 playoff.

You can just say what you mean: not want to play with noobs. This is understandable, there is some extreme cases (like Nined and im sure a couple more), but imo noone should be discriminated. But for you guys there is many div1 leagues / cups, also the elite pickup.

I myself really enjoyed this cup as it was, taking part in the same team as Nightops (who i saw countless times on stream) in a somewhat serious game and also competing against such caliber like cas with having a chance (ok maybe didnt had too much but the frag difference wasnt too high). It was close to most enjoyable matches i played in TDM, especially first map where we advanced... Id be very sad if elitism would prevent me from this experience in the future. To practice vs similiar skill there is always pcw and for elite matches theres already a pickup, many leagues, cups etc... Just my opinion.

Thank for wision & Lam for organizing, best thing happened in quake since QLranks imo... Also thanks for my team Nightops, Lam, Impjee.

I get your point, but from how this tourney was run, the lower skilled players can actually learn alot from the more experienced players wich isnt the case if they play with only their own skill level :-)

I enjoyed this cup although we got eliminated in the first round, probably due to my inexperience with TDM.
