man this match analysis vid stil amazes after all this time. funny thing too is that Rapha's live duel actions completely matched his move-by-move analysis, i.e., no armchair quaterbacking it.

dm6 is second most popular duel map in QL, people in general like it more than most of other maps in current map pool, so clearly your opinion about it is not universally shared by QL players.
And it's suitability for pro map pool is proven by 10 years of history with countless amount of incredibly interesting games. Players like cooller, av3k, rapha, strenx, cypher, etc, love dm6, so clearly if all those top players find it suitable for tournaments, then there aren't any serious problems with it.
The only people who whined about dm6 are players who personally are not good or consistent at playing it or mid-high level wannabe pro's who were getting raped by better players and made it look that the map is at fault, not their lesser skill. It just happened that some of those few whiners were kinda authoritative figures on ESR, and lots of ESR-sheep just blindly and mindlessly accepted their position without ability of making judgement of their own, so there was an illusion that quite a lot of people hated dm6.
But raw statistics from qlranks and a bunch of pro player interviews, which all can't be biased by herds of sheep, tell us simple facts:
1. Pro players love dm6
2. Casual players love dm6
Which, both combined, provides no basis for such negative attitude towards dm6 as you demonstrate. I think that you as a DH admin should not let your personal biases affect the choices that you make for other people.

Besides t4 dm6 is the only duel map I neither can't stand to play nor to watch. T4 is just a matter of preference whereas imo dm6 is the most dull duel map, especially with the existing spawns and the new spawnsystem. I played it lately and I was like o_O when I killed my opponent at ra and he was spawning right before my eyes :D.

heh.. guess its kind of personal preference, for example dm6 is my favorite map and i like to watch it too. its proven good for competition, and i actually find it amusing that its out of the map pool for 1,5 years still there isnt a worthy successor. because hektik is the less liked, battleforged failed, dismemberment failed... so how about put an end to this misery and at least feature dm6 until there isnt a better map...

How do you know that hektik is the less liked map? You can't really compare both maps as one is a prem map. So qlranks stats become useless at least regarding the overall stats. Taking a more precisely look at the top players stats you hardly see any dm6 games. Out of the current top10 only rapha has played more dm6 than hektik.

dm6 not played cos it isnt in the competition... same with t2, t9, pro-t7 etc ok but waste of time maps... as for the least liked part if you look at the stats there is not much player who would actively play hektik or would it cover at least 5-10% of their total playtime, that gave me the impression as it seems rather a forced thing, same as t4 or battleforged for example.

but i think the best would be if they put up a vote, if viewers want hektik than it should be in the map pool.

dm6 is ql. It is a blasphemy that it has been removed. This map exists in many fps games, it's an integral part of the game itself.

I love hub for example, but it's super boring to see 3 fast maps in a row being played, last tournaments without ztn were just -_- to spec.

I don't think it'll be needed. If there's a massive intresset and we have no real way to pick who to invite we'll probably rethink. But for now I think that 32 slots will be enough to let most people go.

I would really like to see a multiple-modes tournament.

E.g., two teams with 4 players each playing like this:

- 1st round: A Bo5 duel between one player of each team.
- 2nd round: A Bo3 4v4 TDM match
- 3rd round: A Bo3 4v4 CTF match
- 4th round: A Bo5 duel between two different players
- 5th round: A Bo5 duel between two different players

First team to win 3 rounds is the winner.

That way, we could have teams with really different styles. Some could focus on having one strong duel player plus 3 really good CTF and TDM players. Others would have 3 really strong duel players and try to find someone who can supplement them for TDM and/or CTF.
Etc. ;)

This should also be an incentive for duel players to become good at team modes and for CTF/TDM players to become better duel players. The result is increased activity in all game modes. :D

I don't think it would be necessary that every team consists of players from only one nation; mixed teams would surely also work. :)

Single elimination playoffs need to be BO5 for satisfaction. Seeing rapha vs cypher early on bo3 is GARBAGE, don't do it, at least if ur gonna SE, make it BO5.

When deciding who plays whom for quarter finals and above, do not use seeds, do random hat picks and shit so we can actually watch every match and not have fucking rapha vs cypher / strenx vs av3k same fucking time bullshit matches like usual.

IMO should be a lot more maps and a different pick system, for example: all games (duel) bo5, 3 maps picked randomly and one picked by players.
maps (much more):
Aerowalk, Almost Lost, Asylum, Battleforged, Bloodrun, Campgrounds, Dismemberment, Furious Heights, Hektik, House of Decay, Longest Yard, Lost World, Toxicity, Trinity, Vertical Vengeance.

Random maps are the first one to play, players picked maps last.

This time im sorry but im worried 32players wont even be filled this time. Why? Players retired and cause of exams more players wont go cypher and strenx in finals and we already know it! :)

Look at what TDM had, more players in the event.
Look at the CTF LAN happening in .nl. 40players 9teams and ppl still working on lineups so can see maybe 1-2 teams more there.
AND, There were so much whine about the none 120hz montiors. Imagine for a sec what players, how many more players, how many favorite teams for #1 and what this event would accomplish.
Im getting all warm just thinking about this. So excited.
But now so sad.

Got nothing to look forward for "play for", and might aswell quit this game cause i know there will be duel next year and year after that again. Duel can be interresting watching, not playing.

The most of the group stage will be played on Saturday and Sunday morning. Playoffs sunday afternoon. from the quarterfinals and on we'll do one game at a time. I think it'll be good!

That's what has me scared, the bit about "16-19 June" in the opening post. But QL will be played on 16-17 if I understand you correctly.

The Quarter finals will be played on Sunday evening. Unfortunately the semi finals, bronze game and grand final will be played on monday. Hopefully I can delay the grand final until the evening so there's a bigger chance that everyone that's working can watch it aswell.

Who knows if he's really going to though. He's just a troll who doesn't sign up for local tournaments but that somehow managed to play at quakecon, losing every single map in the easiest group ever. Rather see that slot used by someone else.

As far as I know he hasn't participated in a single QL duel tourney and he's not playing the current one, which is sponsored by Jeesports. $100 is quite a lot for an online tournament here so there's no excuse really, but he'll continue saying he's the best SA player ever (without competing) and that he'll rape rapha playing with a NES controller and with his monitor turned off.

So that's why no tdm.

Look how many awesome tdm matches we have online on any tournament (igl, clanbase, esl, nationcup ...) where the few top players are spread around different teams.
