The Abyssus is smaller, lighter and has a higher dpi than the WMO. That said, when the Abyssus isn't jittering like crazy, they're both good solid mice.

Which one you should buy is entirely up to your personal preference. The Abyssus is a small mouse that can handle a higher malfunction threshold. The WMO is a medium sized mouse that has a lower malfunction threshold. Their shapes are somewhat similar, but their subtleties make them different holding experiences.

I've read that a few Abyssus will jitter on cloth pads, do they also jitter on hard surfaces like a desk or a hard mouse pad?

I was really looking into getting an Abyssus because it seems perfect the way I grip my mouse but that jittering issue is keeping me from buying one.

I have purchased and then returned a total of three abyssus, one of them was the newer LoL edition. All three jittered on my cloth pads (Razer Goliathus speed, Qck, Puretrak Talent) but none of them jittered on my 4HD or even cardboard....

If you plan on using a hard plastic pad then I don't think you will have any problems with jitter.

I have an abyssus 3.5g which tracks smoothly on the allsop raindrop xl. No complaints. Some surfaces probably absorb too much infrared and screw up the sensor. As long as you avoid these (most are probably black or darker), you're fine.

Newer ones don't seem to have any problems. I've been using mine for a couple of months now on a Puretrak Talent (which was initially reported to be incompatible when the Abyssus first came out) and it functions just as flawlessly as my Deathadder always has. I think in later production runs they fixed whatever was causing the jitter issues.

that's BS. Actually it seems that assumption started from this very forum and the one who made it said he had no proof whatsoever, and that "new" abyssus still jitter when they feel like it.

My friend and I bought Abyssus, same edition and similar model numbers. Mine is fine but his has some jittering. I haven't tested it myself so I'm not one hundred percent sure if it is the mouse causing it.

I have to say though, I really like the mouse. I have had zero issues so far with mine and it seems to track flawlessly at any speed. It is very light too. I'd say get an Abyssus and just risk it, if it''s a good one (no jitter) you won't regret it.

I heard, that Abyssus jitter only on desktop. Even jittered version don't jitter in fullscreen applications (games). Can anyone confirm that?

idk why everyone is under the impression that rapha is a bad aimer, or that he aims worse than other top players.
Just to give one example, he could easily make a complete frag movie from quakecon 2011. If you have some time, check his match against czm.

that being said, the best aimers and every single "champion" (best in his time and quake game) used a wmo or its sensor. Fat, toxjq, cypher (he started performing badly the instant he switched to a deathadder, and he still isn't as good as he was now that he uses an abyssus), cooller, rapha etc.
The only exceptions I can think of are thresh and zero4, but both used the predecessor to the wmo anyways.

On the other hand, the abyssus feels better for every day use. My abyssus started jittering a bit a couple months ago, but I don' t care enough about quake to switch back to a wmo, but I still play QL so I'm still using an abyssus instead of buying a regular desktop mice.

stermy is the best aimer in quake imo, and he uses IE 3.0 which is same sensor as WMO, so yep, agreed ;)

he is not the best aimer.
He is the simply the one that uses the lowest sensitivity, low at the point to give him problems handling the rocket launcher, bunny hopping, doing 180 degrees swith, and mostly doing rocket jumps.
Cypher could surely aim as well as him, if only he used such a low sens, (and still he would have better timing/positioning/ whatsoever), but he would lose a lot of his fastness, the ability of doing his crazy air rockets and mostly, he wouldn't feel as good as with his accelerated sens.

rapha isnt bad aimer, but hes quite medicore aimer...

most of top duellers out aim him... but its rapha, he will get you when ur aim wont matter at all

well if your abyssus lol edition jitters on a goliathus speed alfa, just clean the mouse pad, problem solved... it worked like a miracle for me.

I've used both these mice for long periods of time. Both are very good but both have a couple of bad points. If you buy the 1.1a without trying the Abyssus you'll be perfectly happy with it. The sensors amazingly good, it's very light in weight and the shape is probably the best of any mouse made today. Cypher, Cooller and Rapha are/were all uses of the WMO 1.1a. There are 3 main draw backs to this mouse that were apparent to me, one - the mouse feels abit cheap and nasty, two - because it's not essentialy a gaming mouse it's alot less well equipped then other gaming mice on the market. For example it's default USB polling rate of 125hz etc. These two 'cons' are pretty minor and to some won't even be a consideration, however, there is a third draw back to the 1.1a that I'll come to in a sec.
The abbyssus is a really great mouse, much better build quality than the 1.1a, and much more well equipped with adjustable polling rate and DPI aswell as other advanced settings in the driver options. It's very light weight and quite small in size. Only God knows what the hell Razer were thinking when they designed the shape of it though?! and why, why, WHY, WHY?!?! did they make the lower part of each side of the mouse out of glass smooth hard plastic?! (terrible to grip, especially when your hands are a little sweaty). I did get used to the Abyssus shape though and I did use it for a long period of time. The best thing about the Abyssus is that it uses the Razer 3.5G sensor. This leeds me back to the not yet mentioned third draw back to the 1.1a. The 1.1a is a great mouse, the sensor is really good but as soon as you try a 3G or 3.5G razer sensor then the 1.1a really shows its age. The old Microsoft sensor just doesn't stand up next to the newer Razer. It's like getting out of a Subaru Impreza and into an Evo. The Evo being just that more focused and better in every way :)
One thing I will mention about the sensors in these two mice that is actualy superior in the 1.1a is the lift off distance but this can easiy be fixed in the abyssus with a peice of tape stuck over the back of the sensor.
I loved the 1.1a and loved the Abyssus but today I use a superior mouse to both of these, one that's unfortunately not available to buy over the counter. I get the pros from both of these mice without any of the draw backs :) I use a Kinnzuadder. It's a very similar shape to the 1.1a but better built, glides better and has much better clicks than either mouse. And the best bit is - it's been modified and upgraded with Razer 3G internals. It's by far the best mouse I've ever used :)

Are the new abyssus jitter free? or is it luck based? Should I get a DA:BE instead?

It is still luck based, I bought a 2nd Abyssus recently and it jitters :( It's one of the newer releases also, since it had the Windows 7 logo on the box. It's a shame because the Abyssus has the perfect weight/size/shape combo for me.

I got a 1.1 off of Amazon a few months ago, plugged it in, and thought the sensor felt like complete shit and I'm still puzzled over why people love it so much.

I prefer Abyssus over WMO, but it took a Salmosa to figure that out.

I was first using the Salmosa and eventually became good friends with it, because it fit my hand perfectly and I was just happy to hold it. Then at some point I got a WMO, just to see what the praise was all about and played with it for some time. The sensor felt better but the shape and the buttons didn't really feel too good. So it was then clear that I wanted a mouse that had the shape of Salmosa and sensor with no prediction --> Abyssus.

The jitter problem depends on the mouse pad. All razer sensors are f*cking pretentious b*tches when it comes out to mouse pads.

i have a Roccat Taito cloth pad. Someone knows if it jitters with Abyssus?
