Quakelive duel added to ESL VERSUS (20 comments)

Some of us already knew about it, but now it's official: Quakelive is now on ESL VERSUS. It was first added with TDM 4v4, but after some thinking, it's finally Duel that will be featured for the official launch. Other modes could follow in the next weeks if needed!

So far, the 1v1 map list consists of non-Premium maps (Blood Run, Campgrounds, Furious Heights, House of Decay, Lost World and Vertical Vengeance). Premium maps should be added soon with a better system to handle them!

Note that ESL Wire still isn't compatible with Quakelive.

i dont see people start using this to find a duel opponent until there is a bigger reason to do so. that could be the use of esl wire... hope ql will be supported at some point

Well, that's not too bad of a system to find duel matches.

Afaik, id Software dudes don't want to or just can't help the ESL Wire devs. So gl with that

it might be a good system (and i think it is), but it needs a critical mass of active users to work, just like any pickup channel. and i dont think enough people will try it out to get things rolling

It all depends on this community... if people start using it to find matches and don't back of straight away. This could be a good matchmaking tool.

Also, after getting rolled once, they should not start moaning that the matchmaking system isn't balanced. Obviously you need to play a few matches before the system can start making somewhat fair games.

Lets hope the community is for once open for something new.

As stated, the success of QL on VERSUS is depending on the community.
Easy to use, and definitely a viable duel matchmaking/ladder system.

Hi! Please share the news http://www.esl.eu/eu/quakelive/news/176392/ or the link to this thread or the link to versus http://www.playversus.me as much as you can whenever you want to play a VERSUS. match urself so we can get this up and running in quake live in a few days!

please help us to get the critical mass, it only works if you play yourself and get a ranking, the skillmatching cannot work unless you play 10 matches

once it works you will be satisfied because this is the world's best skillmatching system right now
