Its really unfair on HoQ giving them further stick because you can't field a team. Considering its their first season in TDM give them a break while they tweak the rules somewhat.

I know most of us appreciate the effort they have put in and the additional games and interest its generating for TDM.

I don't get it. What's the difference between OpenCup and EuroCup? Looks the same to me.

Where are the rules? Is there map dropping? Are there match days like in HoQ? I won't enter a cup with dm6 in the pool if I can't toss it.

And I thought HoQ and ESL sites are bad... This one looks like scrambled eggs. Geocities-grade web design.

"EuroCups are invite only cups, with the top teams from the communities being invited, while OpenCups are open to everyone."

EuroCup is the highest division. Then there are lower divisions that is "open cup". Same rules and so on. Just that the highest division has its on cup.

HoQ site isnt that bad? I mean... you find what you're searching for on HoQ :p ESL needs som practice to navigate and clanbase is just a fuckin maze :D

Appreciate the replies from everyone above, now I get the difference. I was confused by the ability to apply for EC [where I see now my team doesn't belong ;)]. Apparently they'll allow best of the teams that sign up and call this "invitation", ok!

Now, how about the rule part? It says everywhere there are no rules yet. My main concern are map pools and map tossing, but others might want to see mercylimits or something, I know I would appreciate mercylimits (like 40 for 2v2, 60 for 4v4) to get less potential rape... I don't even see any word if that has some group stage (to get at least one good game between two worst teams) or just seeded SE bracket (get raped 300:50 by some top team, cu).

See, all of those concerns were addressed by HoQ Leagues before the season started. And we have 48 teams out of which only 2 look like dropping. There are teams that gave away 2 def wins and are willing to play the rest of the season (like [tt]). How about that?

ClanBase has always been like this.

However, CB is group stage -> Single Elim.
Map pool is often the most popular one, so expect something like HoQ

The mercylimit is a new issue though, no idea what will happen to it.

You can't actually apply for EuroCup, eventho there is a link there that says "Sign up for this cup". It actually redirects to OpenCup signup and there you get an option where you can tick if you want to play in EC or not.
So only the teams that signed up for OC can actually be invited to EC.. it's not like admins can just invite ic (which i'm sure will not sign up) just because they meet the criteria.

Maplist seems to be visible in the menu block on the right side (where available).

I completely agree with you on the rules part.. should have been posted as a news at least if they're not published as rules yet.
The thinking here is that teams should already have a feel on what to expect based on the previous season. Which kind of created a problem for new teams.

Anyway, if it's the same as last season, two maps are tossed and then two maps are picked.

Feel free to bring up the mercylimit in the news post on CB.

I think it's too early to call how many teams are dropping HoQ and i don't think it had anything to do with rules being known before they signed up. HoQ leagues prolly doesn't kick out teams with two noshows/forfeits. CB rules are much more strict about that.

I don't really have to know those rules because i don't play there. I did however play CTF and felt as if rules (or just admins enforcing them) were a bit loose.
But i did read them just now for your entertainment, says you automatically remove clans after 3 (three) noshows/forfeits.
So i was right.

It wasn't us that didn't show up.
2 clans dropped, the other two didn't want to schedule/play or something like that.

There were some scheduling problems on our side i'll admit that. Mostly due to <someone> disapearing after the first match. That should have been punished tbh, it just felt weird to me when matches were being delayed like that.

Yeah not much we can do about dropouts/lames team caps, which is why CTF season 3 will run a lot more like TDM ;]

Maybe you should sign up next season and see for your self, anything your not happy with can always be discussed with us ;] and we will do our best to make the rules better ;]

The EC/OC TDM will go with the following map pool:

-Deep Inside
-Dreadful Place
-Grim Dungeons
-Hidden Fortress
-Purgatory

Map picking will be pick/pick with a 5 map pool, so no more drop/drop.

Its barely had a chance, it would make sense for the teams to pick existing maps at QCON because no one could be arsed practicing it following its announcement a few weeks before the event.

In the poll ESL ran it got almost as many votes as ospdm5, and i bet that wasnt the majority of TDM players. Most people in online games never learn a new map unless its forced.
