FUCK YES!
This is a newbie movie for newbie american players with gamepads n' shit.
This is also exactly what quake needs.
We need more of this stuff so that quake people starting with this game see something they can relate to, not over the top pro stuff, but flashes of training maps done right (lol) and some semi impressive attempts at advanced hand-to-eye coordination.
THIS IS QUAKAAAAA!

I would change the first line a little, since it says this is how you become a good player in quake world, it's a little confusing considering that the game is QuakeLive and not QuakeWorld :)

... and to the movie, it was really nice from the mid half forward, the beginning was a little "sleepy". Gotta give proper credits to the editor of it since even if angles were switching much and sometimes quite fast it was made very clearly, so you wouldn't get "lost" in the situation. Nice job!

Some of you seem to wonder wtf the point of this movie is. I'm not sure I get it either tbh but I liked it.

What I understand though, and it should be pretty obvious to anyone here, is that we have here the most motherfucking hypable vid about ql made since the z�berduper old Killaton trailer.

yeah, the textures got horribly ugly.

What I mean is that this movie showcases quakelive, gives it some kind of context ( aka something retards apparently need to play a ~~movie~~ videogame nowadays ) and looks fucking cool/would look fucking cool if only the engine wasn't 12 years old and barely enhanced.

That vid could have had more impact on the number of new players than anything id has ever done during the last 2 years.

If you shorten the intro a bit and head on earlier to the part with the frags it's a nice QL promo movie to lure new players into the game (perhaps add a 'Free to play at www.quakelive.com, sign up now!' at the end)

very good quality, camera, music.. but the story didnt get me at all. guess it was "xaero rising, defeating strong opponents, meeting doom in the end - defeating him - endofmovie?" i find that scheme quite old and too straightforward, a little twist would've been nice + pressing the whole thing in a 5 minute timeframe didnt help the tension either

with content i didnt mean the frags.. lets face it - this aint a fragvideo but more of a "atmospheric" and "storytelling" one. with better frags this movie wouldnt be any better because there was no focus on them anyway.

some people here wrote "whats the point of this video" and they are right because this aint a fragvideo but the story is to loose and without tension to really get you. so the solution (in my oppinion) wouldnt be to collect better fragscenes but to put more drama, authenticity and more than anything profoundness into the story

id like to add that i envy your technical abilitys (config, choice of camera, posteffects) and that my criticism is strictly related to "whats not as perfect". it was like watching a typical hollywood production - great in many aspects but lacking in its "soul" that would make it actually adoreable to rest on hdd's for long

The final frags and the music really improved the movie to the point of 8/10 for me. Before that it was kinda all over irelevant.

Anyone bit familiar with storytelling / editing [professionaly] will appriciate this movie. This guy knows how to use music properly. Not like ZeroQL with his epic music in every movie. This movie has metaphores and its well made :)
