The European ESL Quakelive staff is organizing two TDM 4v4 cups before and after DreamHack Summer 2011. The cups will be played on a single day using SE Brackets and bo3 matches, and will feature two divisions. The first one will take place on Wednesday 15th at 13:00 CDT and its sign-ups are already open.

The 2nd cup should be played on Wednesday 22nd June, at the same time.

Update: The Div2 final between

e-violence and

wreCkamob will be played tonight at 14:30 CDT. Streaming on Level Up TV.

why is that? sure it would be great to have 2*16 aka more matches, teams but i really like the idea of having 2 divisions, not every mid-low tier team enjoys getting beaten by metsu first round
also it make the 1day execution a lot easier because it saves time

well you cant have a a 16 player double elimination cup on one day unless you play almost every round as a bo1. and personally i would most definitely prefer a 2 div, se, bo3 all the way tournament over that. not saying that its perfect but it certainly encourages teams to participate that would otherwise shy away

What Nukm said, basically.

We want all teams to enjoy some nice games before the summer and we want to play proper TDM which means bo3 instead of bo1. That means we can't have double elimination.

Now with the seedings you don't want the best teams to eliminate each other in the first rounds so you have to sacrifice the low or mid skilled teams in order to have a high skill final.

In this cup, we want everyone to enjoy some exciting games themselves before they follow (or attend) dreamhack,. Positivity for everyone before the summer! ;)

well the basic esl supports basically every game that they get an active admin staff for, on national and international, so you might not be able to play game x internationally but in country y. and then there is the pro oriented competitions like the eps (national) and ems, iem (and a lot more probably) while those formats certainly communicate with each other they still have their own admins, markets and game choices

He has been playing in my team, e-violence, before he joined metsu. That was in 2k9. So yes, he is more or less new compared to ppl like krysa but he has played more than 18months. And A LOT ever since he started playing QL.
He has also played CS on a pretty high level since he was like 14 years old, and yes he was shit teamplay- and overview-wise when he first joined my team, but his cs style aim was already decent.

aim is only practice, practice, practice vs top players (crazy doding vs icanwin-bots), good hardware (ballmouse vs lates razer/steelseries mouse, 60hz vs 120hz), config (fox cfg vs qldefault).

there are plenty of players out there with good aim, improving their game constantly, e.g. twister

This cup made me jizz prematurely multiple times.
Bottom line is - ufx showed that they're not to be taken lightly. IMO Dreamhack will an all-out eight-way clusterfuck between almost equal top and high seeded competitors.

I'll be spraying blood, come saturday; for sure.
