Well usually these kinds of videos show like 2-3 cases where someone _might_ be cheating. But then you also have a bunch of people who are 100% convinced that it is true and some that never watch the video but do take the word of those comments. Pretty soon they all together try to pressure _some_QL_employee_ to get the guy in the video banned.

Altho in this case it is pretty obvious. You got a 4 min of pure aimboting.

First of all I have never heard about that kind of prediction in any cheat other than this one and it's for QL. I don't think that there were any cheats back then that offered this feature.

Secondly when hitting these far away midairs he would still have to aim at the "green-prediction box" in a split second which to me seems like a tough job. It doesn’t look like aimbot when doing so to me either.

Finally there are times where he is shooting at a still standing enemy where he predicts him to strafe to either of the sides and therefore shoots there, instead spot on at the still standing guy, which results in a huge miss. If he were using such a cheat and shooting where the cheat predicted the enemy to be, he would shoot spot on.

There is no evidence of cheat in this video, only awesome combat skills really. No strange tracking or anything. I'm not saying that this guy didn't cheat (I don't know him) but this movie shows no sign of cheating.

why would it look mechanic? the bot aproximates the spot where the player's gonna be, it's pretty reliable especially if the guy is in mid air and has plenty of time to smoothly line up the shot.

My point was that many of these shots are done fast so the guys doesn't spend a lot of time to make it look smooth but kinda instantly takes a shot. That means that his aiming at it had to be done very fast which isn't very easy. If the aimbot on the other hand aimed at this box for him, then I would asume that it would look mechanic.

Yeah but assuming that the bot is humanized the user gotta aim aswell. The humanizing just helps with tracking, so when flicking he had to do most of the aim himself which kinda makes the argument "he is cheating" invalid.

If you wanted to make something advance: adding random delay, random path to target (instead of straight line) and random tracking points (instead of one fixed on center of the model) would be the way to go. To make it sound even more like science fiction, how about taking the reload time in to the equation?.. for example move the aim away a bit from target just after the shot and start tracking it again in the middle of reload time (would probably look a bit weird tho) :)

i didn't play q3 for almost 3 years but i still have 7go of 1.76 RA3 demos on my hard drive. Want them all ? be my guest. Want more? i can dig my old CDs and find pre 1.76 demos if needed. I never refused to give my demo to anyone, and recorded like 95% of my games.

I started playing q3 with the q3test in May 1999, and stopped on the 31/03/2008. I played in top euro leagues for like 6 years, been clan leader for almost as long, done many LANs. During all this time I was never accused of cheating.

The only "funny thing" i ever used was a RJ script for some time, i know, i am a bad person. Finally, as far as i know there was no such thing as a humanized bot during q3 era.

funny coming from a guy who cried about strenx cheating.

I didn't "cry" about strenx cheating, I said he did, because he did, in very obvious ways.

He's been a well known cheater amongst the french community for two years, on french CTF and TDM pickups, in many 1on1's vs thefou, Kirua, etc, and on french public RA3 servers, it was a well-known fact (even though most people seem to deny it nowadays).

That's what makes it even more funny if you ask me, because one can be a well-known cheater and become a very good player thanks to thousands of hours of play in every possible mod with the help of hacks, and in the end have everyone forget about it or deny it once he becomes a "top player", and at the same time you can now have people accuse a reputable, genuinely talented player like lofwyr of cheating when watching his videos.

This is both funny and very indicative of what the Quake community has become (even though it always was about licking the balls of the strongest players nevermind their behaviour, including aliasing and so on).

I don't have any proof anymore, no. I haven't kept anything from when I used to play (partly due to a HD crash, partly due to not caring much anymore).

I guess there are still people who still care enough who could point you in the right direction, demos where he plays lousily and suddenly jumps from 25% with all weapons to 40% lg and 60% rg with 60-110 ms, blatant autoshooter at the mid of C2 in the middle of a 360° "checking what's behind"' turn on a target that is mostly hidden by a pillar, etc... There were plenty of convincing elements around back then and few doubted he was a hacker. Most players, especially decent and experienced players, made fun of him, mainly because of that.

But hey, I guess the Quake "community" has no memory (which questions the fact that there indeed is a Quake "community" at all), and forgives anything to anyone who starts winning big games, and shits on the head of anyone who's stopped playing well more than 6 months ago, even more so now than ever before.

Now all that's left of it is a handful of clueless newbies who don't know lofwyr, are clueless enough to suspect cheat when they see a compilation of his best frags and killing sprees, and can at the same time cheer for someone who used to be the most well-known cheater in the french community.

That's both kindof amusing, and sad, for someone who used to care and love the Quake community as something very special.

It was about showcasing most of the fishy sequences of strenx's demos (although you have to remember, like for the slowmo spec demo above the YA on cp9, that those are mainly spectators' demos and strenx had a very poor connection at the time), although not absolutely everything is fishy to me in there.

There are quite conclusive sequences though, including some which made me remember how badly he handled his mouse/sensitivity at the time. :x

I fully agree with Guard. When i first saw the video, I thought that this is blatant botting. Just look how his crosshair flicks right onto a precomputed intersection point between enemy player movement and the rocket. People pretty much flamed me for saying that this is cheat. Thankfully, another person also has the balls to point that out.

Looking at the reaction of people, i am very concerned that any humanized botter will ever be caught or punished. And I actually think there are a few around. Probably the only one in a position to make a difference is idsoftware, and they dont give a f*ck.

The problem is that people ignorantly defend hackers as often as people ignorantly accuse players of hacking. People stick up for hackers because they've known them, or because they have a good reputation. That doesn't mean shit online. Anyone can be hacking. Sadly, LAN is the only medium we have for players to prove their worth. Lots of good, hardworking players condemned by their rise in skill, and lots of scum that shouldn't be playing this game praised for their hacks.

It's hilarious how everyone is talking about humanized aimbot after seeing that youtube vid showing that nCQL hack off. It seems to me that this hack (and the algorithm for the enemy movement) is rather new and no cheat back in the Q3 days had this feature (and I am not talking about a delayed aimbot that can help hitscan aim and look legit, but about an aimbot that can calculate the best statistically enemy position).

Maybe this guy just played Ra3 like crazy and had demos for more than 10000 games? It’s retarded to say (like you did in #223) that just because this guy is hitting crazy midairs in a fraking movie, that he is cheating.

I just watched it again and if you fast forward to 1:10 you see him aiming far to the left instead of spot-on/a bit in front of the enemy even though the enemy didn’t step left once. Why would this humanized aimbot predict the enemy to be out there when he never moved in that direction? At 2:21 and 7:26 you see lofwyr aiming up in the air because he predicts the enemy to step on the jump pad resulting in a midair hit. How could any aimbot know the map design and take the jump pad into calculation? At 2:37 the aimbot suddenly aims at the body and not the feet as it have done the entire movie. At 6:22 his ‘aimbot’ did a horrible estimate of the enemy’s position. Why is it suddenly so off considered how easy this calculation is (the enemy is moving in a unchanged pattern but the ‘aimbot’ still estimate the enemy to be in a position quite far from there)?

Surely I don’t know if he is cheating or not since I’ve never seen him irl playing. But calling him a cheater based on a freaking movie is just so retarded when there is no real evidence.

It worked properly, and he did't realise that I had wallack. So after that I realised, that online gaming is a joke! Anyone can cheat in QL. So I hope to see all this fuckers on DreamHack. Also I played vs all the best players of the world I guess, and no one predicted me better then Juven1le. And I played CA vs jaz, even it was only for fun, but he owned me on rails so hard... So I dunno what to think and say... It seems that they are really the best players... No one can be that good on mid, as Juven1le. Stermy can't hit a shit if u compare him with danish cowboy! Also I recomend u to take a look on krais, vuduu and zeroql, they are so talented, I guess they are better players then PURRI, zyv and noctis.

Even if this wasn't any official match, it is still stupid to test something out like that in a practice with top players. In a practice botmatch or a public to test, no one would care much. But if you do it against players you WILL play against in the future in officials, suspicion will be at an all time high.

Felt i had to sign up especially really.

I'm someone who's known jaz for quite a while now and he's someone i've played with a lot and someone i genuinely got on well with until 2 days ago before his huge rant just before this video came out.

To make a long story short, jaz is someone ive got on well with for the last 6 months until a huge outburst by him 2 days ago which really made me see him for what he's really like.

I tried to make him aware months ago that top tier players were suspected him of hacking but he refuted it (and as i found out 2 days ago during a huge rant by him) has pretty much hated me ever since for even daring to bring it up despite the fact that hes still been being nice with me on comms and irc ever since, and then yesterday morning this video surfaces and i was just shocked! I so badly wanted to believe him if i'm honest but something didn't sit right.

Basically..his decision making is utterly off the scale. Its better than linkje's / b3's / anybodies...when he has the flag..specifically when theres no specs and in recent months he's made SUCH a big deal about no specs and now its so obvious why. I've heard excuses such as "spectators cause fps drops" to "don't tell anyone man but ischju doesnt like me and doesnt want me to copy his defensive style" in PM but now at least finally the real reason is out.

IMO this isn't an isolated incident. I think hes probably a cautious aimbotter on occasion in hard games but probably a very subtle wallhack user for many, many months which would explain his completely unhuman decision making as a flag runner.

This isn't "news" to a lot of players at the top tier, this is just actual solid proof as proving wallhacking is very difficult but in light of this it'd be EXTREMELY naive to not think that someone who uses aimbots (the worst of the worst) would actually be clean of wallhacks.

What i found most disappointing of all was the fact he still denied it publically after this video was shown outside the top tier and then eventually found its way onto here...To me that is an absolute joke and says a lot about him.

This video ended up being gathered and made be the other people in the game after jaz decided he didnt want specs in the map following this, in which he allegedly played terrible once there was specs. This was actually deji-vu from a similar incident
where he played an amazing map, i join the following map, 10 mins in i get kicked as jaz is playing terrible (surprise surprise) so this time around i came back on the server and got into an argument with him over it. It turned out that he didn't want me to spec because "i doubted him" and that i'm "sly" and by the end of the 30-40 minutes.....i actually believed him again.

Then the following morning i see this video and i couldnt believe it. I feel vindicated for accusing him now because previously i felt pretty bad about it.

So currently jaz is apparently slagging me off..

He knows i'm extremely anti-hacking and always have been, he's been told by me that people suspect him which to anyone even if they were should be a big hint to just stop, then he's started kicking me off servers and refusing to allow specs for infused matches for MONTHS and then i see this video and i'm annoyed about it, and somehow he seems to have a problem with me?

is that for real? surely i should be annoyed with him ? not the other way around!

I think he's only got one person to blame for all of this. Theres no defending this mentality at all. If more people thought like him then the quakelive scene would be absolutely dead and as i say..i suspect this'll be the tip of the iceberg. I can remember (and so can many others) COUNTLESS times where he's made the most 'amazing' decisions when he's had flag to bypass the whole opposing team.

I know Jaz for 5+ years and I can only repeat:

TBH, I wouldn't have expected him to cheat. I thought that getting into an insanely talented team that drags him along to victory would be enough for his ego.

But apparently, he realized that with only 1 year of quake experience, cheating is necessary if he wants to make it to the top.

He was always nice to me, talked alot about mma etc but since he lost to us he started to change his attitude towards me. From that point i knew he had some mental issues.
