There is some tension between Weird and Demon it seems:D

ah we just have conflicting ideas of which move is 'the best'... the reason behind this is mostly due to me not having confidence in my own aim...
I often say people take too many risks in their game because they have to hit a shot (demon is one of these players, and strenx is one of them as well...).
We often call eachothers moves stupid because of it.... for example when I am railable (less than 80hp) and the nmy is as well, I will hardly ever attack (unless I can get a huge advantage if I win and my nmy can only get a slight advantage if I lose), while demon / strenx would see it as a 60 / 40 chance to take the frag (as their aim is faster / more accurate than their opponent).
Ofcourse I believe I'm right, but I can also see why they play the way they do... but imo there are so many ways for them to improve (as they say to me that I have to improve aim).
But theres no real hate between us (I hope... I do whine a lot about my lack of aim / lags / unstable stuff etc hehehe ;))

Its that kind of stuff that makes me wonder whether his antics are part of his strategy to throw opponents off or just cause he can be a dick. Call timeout when you're about to lose, "10 fps", then telefrag? Even 2gd was suspicious. And I'm not saying he DID do it on purpose, but "situations" like this happen all the time with him...

That is absolutely not how it went. The game was at 8-7 for avek, it had been going back and forth, and avek was at 46 health and 100 armor (he was at 46 hp and 0 armor seconds before, after killing strenx, then he picked up two yellows). There were two minutes remaining on the clock and looking at how the game was going it was still wide open.
strenx tried pausing when avek was about to enter the 50hp bubble teleporter. He pressed the wrong button (you can see this in chat), and before he could pause avek had gone through that teleporter and through the middle teleporter, and therefore he arrived right next to strenx who was standing still at LG, trying to pause, which he finally managed to do right as avek was coming out of the teleporter.
He paused neither because he was badly losing in the game (it was a one frag difference with two minutes to go in a game that had been going back and forth, and avek was not really in control since he had two yellows and 46 hp while strenx had spawn hp and was next to the third yellow before he tried to pause) nor because avek was about to frag him (he started to try pausing when avek was at the exact opposite of the map and in no real position to frag him).

Sorry for the long post but I really don't see the point of giving this as an example of strenx being a dick. The guy often gets criticized for no reason at all (see the guys below like Bartender being anal about him mentioning the time he used his brain against cooller on dm6). If you're going to point out childish behavior that's fine but most of the times he gets bashed there really isn't a good reason.

Well he played a 17 min game vs Cooller on ztn and also av3k had a hard time vs him on lan. He did improve a lot lately and I don't think that he already reached his limit like other top players.

I'm curious how far he can go in the next upcoming events.

I kinda like Strenx, he's kinda like the anti-hero amongst the top Quake Live players, I think it is this that causes such negative reaction to him. He doesn't pretend to be cool and smart like the Cypher's and Cooller's of this world. He just plays his game, and that game works for him. It might not make him a champion, he may never beat rapha in a grand final but he can match any player in the world with his style.

So what if it's so aim based, Quake is and always will be based on aiming and doing damage to an opponent. It might not be a beautiful style but there is also skill in aiming and strenx is the best at doing crazy damage, and not just with shaft either.

I think the kid deserves some respect from the community, his game has got better and better and he is proven on LAN, he's a personality and a talking point, and this is only good for the QL community.

It's kinda dumb to call someone who's being top 5 player among players like cooller, cypher, rapha and av3k, an all aim player, because obviously you can't be that good if you dont have high level of map control, prediction and positioning which comes under "brain".

I think his style is just more aim dependant then other players, but it's not a bad thing at all because not using his aim advantage over his opponents is shooting your own leg. If he's still smart enough to enforce this advantage over his "smart" opponents then maybe he's not that dumb or his opponents aren't that smart.

I would call him maybe a one dimensional player because he is one of the less "creative" players among the top 10 but his style is efficient and if it works he shoulden't change it, i just remind you that he is still getting better and better every week.

There are several better aimers then strenx like stermy, z4muz or fox and he's still doing a lot better then them. I'm far from being one of strenx fans but saying he's got no brain is just being ignorant.

I more see him more like a "robot" by the fact that he has taken some "reflexes" (positions, game situation etc...) with time and playing (after almost 8 years of dueling...) rather than having created strategies or some real time game analysis.
Of course he has improved but it's experience for me.
(after playing 100 times a situation you know what's the most usual/rational play from your opponent, so you can predict it, but it's part of the player's skill)
