You can play it that way, but it's not your only option. Most people agree that you can get more out of the game without a subscription, by just reading about the drama on the forums.

Whoever pays for eve is dumb, and im talking about those who play the game :P

i did and yes once you reach a point where you have done everything and everything seems boring then you should stop playing.

once you reach capital ships and have all the ships you want to fly its really fucking dull. in fact its really fucking dull full stop.

people say its for the ships and the friends you make. There are some people who have been around from the very start and have a huge fortune to play with and control vast regions of space etc. Yes it all sounds very exciting but ultimately its all about who has the most ships on the day and whos team has pilots with the least real life to lead.

PVP

is really boring as well its all about who has most experience and one v one encounters never seem to occur now. its all just a little group of limp dick nubbins in tiny cheap worthless ships going around in 0.0 looking for some lone dickhead who happens to be watching the football and gets podded. omfg wp u get a killmail and its on a FUCKING WEBPAGE OMG OMG THAT NO ONE EVER FUCKING CHECKS EVER SO WHATS THE FUCKING POINT IN PVP????

okay so now this a full fledged rant... the latest update is all about controlling planets.... and mining em and shit. so it will mean more planets mean more money... in other words the poorest most numb ins players will get shat on and grind there tiny 1million isk profit per day... wooo thats fucking loads.... not.

CCP have captured over 300 000 pilots accounts. half of these will be alts. so maybe real numbers are about 120k tops.

The PVP system would be better if the lag didn't restrict the really large-scale battles that the players want. 500-man fights would even be nice, but players can support 5x that. =X

I thought the planet system was rather interesting. You can't make a ton of money doing it, but you can even run it while you aren't online. The best part of the system is that a complete newb can particpate, and the profits scale.

Mining is a way to make money for whatever you want to do - not just to buy PVP ships. Some people play just by manipulating the markets, running corps, etc...

edit: also, they just broke their concurrent player record last week with 60k+ players online

Ive been playing on and off for 7 years and i dont need your stuff :P ive got 4 accounts and pay for them all with ingame money, i dont believe you've dont 1/8th of whats you can in eve, fleet used to be good when it was like 10-50max now it sucks, you dont need a brain to follow someone elses orders but theres plenty of other pvp to do.

I helped form BoB, i was a member of Reikoku when it was a 10 man corp and left a few months after they moved to the south and became a pirate in 05, and since then spent time in small roaming 0.0 corps, a few months back i was in tri for a few weeks to try 0.0 large fleet again. Didnt lastt long due to the shit domination lag
