I like to use it to keep in touch with my closest friends when i'm away. Makes it possible to keep somewhat updated on what they're doing even when i'm on the other side of the world. :) But sure, there are a few on my "friends" list that i don't got much to do with... :P

i have around 100 people on facebook that id really like to keep contact with (and im not necessarily speaking with them on a daily basis) which is hardly an overwhelming number, rather low actually.. its also really useful for organizing meets/events including people outside the "core" group of friends or being informed about various events (local bands etc.)

ive already been a part of similar discussions and to me it just seems that people like you are bashing fb just for the sake of it, disregarding obvious advantages it has if you filter out people possessed with flash games etc. i dont really care for those either of course

back then it was (and still is) also handy for student exchange programs
